This is fucking bullshit, how have they not been sued over this yet? This is like the 4th time I've seen their site conveniently break when coins on their platform are pumping.

I don't think it's a conspiracy, doesn't make sense. The network is overloaded because they're too retarded to make it work but I'm sure they would prefer it be up so they can rake their % on sales. I'm sorry your parents never told you this but you're not the center of the universe.

>sue everyone
lmao what a pussy. I tried to order a pizza yesterday but the place was closed because of bad weather, guess I should sue them

>> No.28376304

>>28376046
Not even that it's a conspiracy. It's just that they have so much fucking money on their platform, that incompetency like this should carry financial penalties. There is no fucking reason these kind of outages should happen so frequently. As far as I know, mainstream stock brokerages never break like this. Also, how can you equate a fucking pizza store closing for bad weather, to a cryptocurrency exchange, storing thousands to millions of dollars for people?

>> No.28376923

>>28376304
all computer networks fail, it's only a question of how frequently and to what degree. The only way to completely eliminate that possibility would be double or triple-redundancy in all their systems, and that would cost to much to be viable or you would have to pay 15% instead of 1.5% because the costs would likely not scale linearly. That kind of redundancy is only found in very critical things like nuclear power plants.

I compared the pizza shop because they are exactly the same situation, just on different scales. You agreed to terms that you likely didn't even read when you signed up and gave them your money. If you're really that assblasted your only option is to pull your money out and go elsewhere but you'll have the same problem anywhere else you go.

The entire reason I use goybase is actually related to reliability, but not network reliability. I figured a US based company would be less likely to simply steal my money because they would get publicly sodomized by SEC/FTC/etc if they tried, or would have to flee to some non-extradition shit hole like Iran and what would be the fucking point of that. My regular bank has outages too and I'm sure they're MUCH more organized at a technical level than coinbase.

call the SEC and complain lmao

The difference in scale makes it a completely different situation. One is a minor inconvenience, the other could potentially cost you a large amount of money. There's no reason Coinbase shouldn't be held to higher standards for network reliability when they are the biggest game in town for crypto in the US. They have had more than enough time to reach some sort of parity with big banks in terms of technical competence. You licking their asshole, telling people to kick rocks, and trying to frame me being surprised that they haven't had litigation levied against them, as having some sort of ambulance chaser mentality is absurd behavior. Corporations like this will only try to improve if they actually face consequences for their actions. Litigation or regulation are the fastest ways to make them actually care. As soon as I'm actually allowed to access my funds, I will probably move to something like Kraken.

>> No.28378096

"This doesn't happen for real stock brokers" lol yes it fucking does. They can shut/slow down traffic any time it benefits them and the SEC is incompetent.

>they have had more than enough time to reach some sort of parity with big banks in terms of technical competence

A similar difference in scale between the pizza shops and coinbase can be found between coinbase and big banks. If pizza shop::coinbase comparison is unfair then bank::coinbase comparison is also invalid.

Big banks still have outages regardless of how much they spend on infrastructure, or how much the SEC/FTC may penalize them.

>move to kraken
yes do that, they are the only website in history with 100% uptime

Except we're assuming that this isn't a deliberate halting of services. In that case, Coinbase and brokers who participate in such activities should be held accountable to the harshest degree.

You should really let your shitty scaling analogy go. Coinbase's valuation is going to be pegged around 60-75 billion dollars when it goes public. That's around half the marketcap of giants like Wells Fargo and Citibank. And unlike banks, they don't have to deal with the costs entailed by having hundreds of physical branches across the world. If you think the difference of scale between Coinbase and many big banks is anywhere near the difference between CB and some literal who pizza shop, you are retarded, or more likely, an autist who refuses to concede a stupid comparison. I should have clarified my original statement in >>28376304 when I said "mainstream brokerages never break like this" I meant I have never seen them fail with such frequency. Of course no network is going to be perfect. But it seems like I am dealing with issues like this at least once a month now. I cannot remember the last time I had an issue like this with TD Ameritrade or my bank. Also,
>Tell me to move to another platform
>Okay, I will
>YEA WELL, KRAKEN ISN'T PERECT EITHER
What the fuck is wrong with you? Why do you enjoy licking boots so much? Do you honestly think CB is putting their best foot forward to resolve these kind of issues? Why do you have a problem with people who would like that to be a reality?

it's sort of almost not really working now, shows 0 balance but still shows the graph and mouse-over works to display balance. I'm not trading anything right now so not a big deal for me at the moment.

If you need 100% uptime what you should really do is have multiple places to trade set up, thus redundancy on your end.

and if you're freaking out because you sent your net worth is held by some internet start-up then you deserve to get financially raped anyway. goybase disappeared right now, forever, and I lost it all I would be annoyed but not anywhere close to ruined. It would be the same feeling I get if I lose at a casino or wake up from a drug bender. And, much like those two scenarios, I would probably just do it again after some recovery time.

I wouldn't have given them my money if I couldn't afford to lose it. This is the nature of investment, and gambling in general, for the non-retarded.

I wouldn't use their shit service if I needed top-tier service. I would probably pay a real brokerage to handle my crypto portfolio. And I would have to PAY them well to do so. We would all love to have Kobe steak tier service for burger king prices but that's not how the world works.
