First, read https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kelly_criterion
Then decide what your chances are, and what percentage of your portfolio should you put in it.

Also you don't hedge a stock in a single sector with an ETF in the same sector. Hedge it with something fully orthogonal like green energy, fintech or good old TQQQ.

I wanted to share a nice little stock tip for comfy bros:
Glasdoor reviews are basically insider information. If you want to look for old-school fundamentals, it's absolutely priceless.
Look for comments about management, working conditions and whether coworkers are smart or faggots. CEO approval is interesting too.

>pic unrelated, it's my favorite investor slide of all time.

>> No.28181811

>>28181715
I find glassdoor reviews skewed towards a negative bias - generally people are less likely to go and write something on there if they had a good experience or an alright one. I feel people are far more willing to go on there to complain in the first place than write any praise.

That said, if you keep this fact in mind it's not a bad way to get a feel for a company.

Only from a PR standpoint. Most of the time if you're a competitor, you won't really get anything from competitor source codes that you don't already know.
Usually the code is so bad with these things is that you are better off figuring out how to do it yourself rather than reverse engineering it.

I'm not as big of a believer in crypto as many here. I think it's just speculation at worst, at best a non-productive asset. I don't see how it has any inherent value though and simply relies on people buying it who believe that it will be more in the future to sell it to the next guy. To a certain extent I hold the same feeling about metals, but at least with metals there is something real there - especially with the usefulness of silver. With a stock you're buying a sliver of a business, a productive asset.

Yes, they do have the remarkable capacity to preserve themselves, play tricks and shift the burden on the ordinary man. However, 2008 lesson produced no real change in the game, even aggravating the issue in some aspects. Plus, inflation in real world never seemed to pose a real threat given that, unlike Weimar, the productive system was intact and running and not coming out of the destruction of war. But extreme finance and chrematistics and lastly the virus produced a crazy divergence between real economy and numbers on a screen. Situation is dramatic, but maybe they'll find a way.

Yes, you make a very good point and one that I rarely see. It's very hard to have hyper-inflation when your productive base is still intact, which ours is. I do think we'll see inflation, but I don't think it will be hyper inflation. Who knows though, something eventually is going to give.

It's a mirage as far as I can tell. It's a very effective way of transmitting money and you can do it anonymously and all that. A check is a way of transmitting money too. Are checks worth a whole lot of money just because they can transmit money? I hope Bitcoin becomes a better way of doing it but you can replicate it a bunch of different ways. I come here looking for opinions. I'm in a tough position right now. I am serving in the US Army and I also have a wife and our life together. This organization is insane and I want off the ride. My contract ends in September and if I were to leave the military I would have a background in heavy equipment construction operation. Or if I stay in I would switch my jobs to learn cyber-security and do another contract. I'm not sure what I should do because I know I could get out and make a lot of money doing construction, but I'm also very weary about the economy and short/mid-term stability. Signing up for cybersec would make it easy to get cushy government contracts but I might hate myself if I have to do a minimum 6-8 year contract again.

Aquaculture / controlled environment is ideal too. We have romantic ideas of wild but earth is pretty polluted and indoor farming is theoretically better if done right.

But indoor has cost issues so tends towards pushing to optimize cost and not quality. Customer is braindead so we don't get high quality indoor farming food options and instead people think wild organic is best.

Indoor will grow a lot in all areas by2025 but ideally you'd want all meat from idealized aquaculture for best health/sushi. If feed is done right can eat raw salmon w no freezing from aquaculture

Yeah, I mean maybe the army boat sails, but you'll still have plenty of opportunity in life. And cybersecurity sucks. It's 100% frustration. You always uncover a shitton of vulns, and these will never be fixed because noone is willing to spend the money. Also it becomes mundane very fast. After a year or so, all jobs are the same.

I am a leaf as well, Questrade has seemed pretty good so far and I would recommend it. The only thing is if you are playing with not a lot of money the 4.95USD/5.05CAD commission on selling and buying adds up very quickly. So if you just plan on trading on the TSX/in Canada Wealthsimple might be a good choice but if you plan on trading US stocks on wealthsimple it's not worth it just use questrade. Wealthsimple takes a cut of 1.5% anytime you convert to CAD to USD or USD to CAD. So that is potentially 3% on top of conversion off your entire sum.

This is what we are seeing with some of the mutant strains. Immunization and vaccines put a selective pressure on the virus to evade preexisting antibodies. Fortunately it does so by changing the spike protein, which makes it less virulent most of the time, so we are okay.
Also, existing antibodies will still match mutant viruses somewhat, so you will get little to no symptoms, and create antibodies for the new version. At this point, newer variants will be basically another common cold if you are vaccinated.
Similar to what happened to the Swine flu, which just became one of the flus you get.

What will not happen for sure is you getting infected and shedding viruses all over the place for months.

It says the disease Marek's in chickens went from 100% mortality in 10 days to a lifelong disease instead with different symptoms.
Why is that worrisome?
Yes COVID will mutate. it's in millions of hosts already so that cat's out of the bag. The only way it doesn't mutate is if either COVID or humans go extinct.
This is why MRNA and NVAX stock are bid so high, they will be contracted to study new strains and make the new annual shot. MRNA went from DNA sequence to the current vaccine in days. This is no longer cutting edge, just normal.
Long ABCL btw. Don't own any vax stocks.

I liked what VXRT was doing, that they also put one of the stable capsid proteins in their mix too, so even if the spike changes, you still get an immune result.
I'm also convinced that IgA and T cell immunity is more than enough for this shit, but everyone was looking for IgG, and the stock tanked. Maybe we will be smarter in a year or so. Vaccine tablets isntead of shots would be rad.

>Maybe we will be smarter in a year or so.
This is your biggest risk. Revenues come from government contracts, you can't rely on consumers picking the most sensible product. I like the bet though, it's a shame LEAPS are so expensive despite the political and technological risk.
