I’m a student, personally, and if I want to pay back everything I owe in a reasonable amount of time, I have to make $1000+ payments each month. Positions in my field start at $30k and eke their way up to $60k. That being said, 12k will come out of my salary each year. On top of that, I live in Colorado, so prices for pretty much everything are higher anyways, for example, rent. I pay between 800-1100 in rent each month, equaling out to another ~12k each year. Add those together and with a position that I’ll be in for two to three years, I’ll be keeping about 6k to myself each year. Shit’s debilitating.
