I'm sympathetic towards Monero, but I feel there must be a reason why it's so down in BTC (I mean it's 5x since last march, so it's not like it was a bad investment by any means).

Maybe the reason is nobody really want to use crypto for payment and this coin is 7 years old and no hype train is there to ride.

I have some $ on an exchange to play it safe, but when BTC crashes, it will probably too and so it's hard for me to buy.
Sad but true, that's the best I can give you.
