Crypto is no where near its end goal of mass adoption and total reform of the world's financial systems. /biz/ is an extreme minority in the grand scheme of things. Nakamoto Consensus doesn't scale.
But you can make blockchains as scalable as you want trough POS with validators. Only thing being properly synchronized being hash of the blocks, while the data proper are only used by node currently mining and validators. Remove a lot of the P2P sync bottleneck.

There is no upper bound limit to the troughput of a POS chain with validators.
