I don't know shit about crypto, but this seems to just be a really expensive way of acquiring obscure tokens. I'm sure there are other uses for the technology, but I primarily see people using it to gain access to shit like rubic that isn't available via major markets like kraken, binance, etc, and they always seem to spend a shitton on gas when doing so

So why does it just keep going up? Is it just because ETH is spiking? Will it continue to remain useful or is this just a minor bubble?

You're not retarded, there's no shame in asking a good question. The whole market cap of defi as a whole is going up i.e snx, aave and of course, uni. I'd definitely say it's a bubble at this point until the scaling can be sorted out, albeit by L2 or porting the dApps to a different blockchain like avax, polkadot, etc.
Also eth goes up = cryptomarket cap goes up
