27541955 No.27541955 [Reply] [Original]

>On average, the benefits of a four-year college degree are equivalent to an investment that returns 15.2 percent per year. This is more than double the average return to stock market investments since 1950, and more than five times the returns to corporate bonds, gold, long-term government bonds, or home ownership.

Why invest in risky stocks or memecoins when you can choose the much more profitable AND safer four-year college?

>> No.27542070

>>27541955
I'm guessing this only applies to non-meme degrees.

>> No.27542186

Of course, and it also means that a good degree is an even higher ROI average

>> No.27542189

>on average

that would mean particularly good degrees can be even better. but getting scalable experience and making good connections is just as important as the degree for post-grad employment

>> No.27542556

>>27542070
even meme degrees can help you out a lot. there are plenty of jobs that don't actually require too much skill but do require effort, people skills, and time management. the degree teaches you that and gets you in to these kinds of jobs as they often filter out applicants without a four-year degree.

Where are you getting this data and does it project out into the future? Because currently 70% of college students are female so it is unlikely that the trend continues based solely on that factor alone.

>> No.27543259

>>27541955
I don't believe this. The amount of retards struggling to make ends meet with degrees is unreal. I'm betting that number is based on the estimated amount jobs requiring degrees make yearly but not accounting for the amount of people with degrees flipping burgers or on NEET bucks.

Correlation != causation. If you are smart you will get money regardless of whether you went to a good school. Just so happens those who go to good schools are smart (on average).

This is fucking pathetic compared to having even the slightest clue what to invest in for crypto, no thanks. College is a scam.

>> No.27543572

Pretty much this, if you are smart and into crypto its super easy to make money. My crypto has a larger payout then the job I got with a college degree (100k a year-ish). Though gotta say having a good job is what helped me get the initial capital to invest.

How do they figure how much money you make after that college degree is due to that degree? I assume all of it.
Did they also take into consideration the average amount of knowledge retention a student has, which from a few google searches seem to suggest most if not all of it is forgotten?
If the degree isn't based on knowledge obtained what gives it value?

Is that true? I'm still in my first year and have a hard time believing that since I'm pretty fucking stupid.
