Banned from buying GME? Buy GAMR or XRT instead. They're ETFs that both derive about 27% of their value from GME right now. They move similarly to GME and buying options in GAMR or XRT will give you a similar effect to the direction and percentage moves of GME. If you just buy shares of either of the ETFs, you will move in the same direction of GME just at a lower percentage so it may be even safer if you think GME is too risky.
Pic related shows the three charts stacked to highlight the similarity.

>Shares Outstanding: 496.53M
>Float: 1.03B

How can float be larger than shares outstanding?
Shorts have risen from Dec 15 to Jan 15th by nearly 30M shares.
What the fuck are they planning, and which are they lying about, the float or the shares outstanding? Is the company itself involved in this?

All dividend stocks are bad, at best they under (not out-) perform QQQ and on average they have negative returns.
If you put $100 in dividend stocks right now, you'll be looking at making $5 a year at best. More likely something like $1 when accounting for fluctuations and inflation.

Potential market crash QRD
>Online brokers employ clearing firms for the transfer of shares
>Sell a share and you get your money immediately
>Clearing firms employ DTCC to fund this instant money flow as the original transfer takes ~2 business days to fulfil, for which the clearing firms usually pay around 1 to 3 % in interest in collateral on the notional value of the share
>so for two days the clearing firm is 2% of the stocks value in cash lighter
>when stocks go volatile this % is increased, as the volatility implies a higher risk of the buyer not being able to pay (think Melvin) for which the clearing firm would pay the price (hopefully getting their money back from Melvin later on)
>with GME collateral % went to 100
>GME shares are exchanged hands billions of times a day; clearing firms are not well capitalized enough to be able fork over the hundreds of billions of dollars in collateral
>to stop the clearing firms from going out of business, brokers halt the trades of GME
>if the clearing firms won't get their money from the buyers (Melvin), they have, at least temporarily, a loss of hundreds of billions
>if clearing firms fail there would be complete market breakdown as a consequence
It may unironically be happening

Don’t know where to post this but I heard there are two ways to prevent your RH account from being liquidated:
>set high limit sell orders
Done
>use margin trading
Is simply “enabling” margin trading enough? Also, more importantly, if I do “opt in” even if I don’t even use the $1000 available through m gold, do I owe Robinhood that amount? Would really appreciate an answer.

There are several strategies. For example, if you just want to hold something forever, 50% TMF 50% TQQQ is very solid and has very robust growth. If you're more risk-tolerant, some mix of FNGU, SOXL, and TQQQ is probably even better.
If you want a bit more hands-on management, there are many solid stocks and golden opportunities discussed on /smg/, but you have to learn how to assess the quality of the stock being promoted, and most importantly, you have to get the balls to hold through a downturn or else you'll sell at a loss instead of at huge gains.

If you're young/new you should avoid dividend stocks. They almost always grow slower than growth stocks. They are more for people with large net worths already and just want to live off of dividends when they are numerous enough.
Just do index funds or maybe microsoft. They will give tiny dividends, but it's still nice to see something a little extra come in.

Only reason I have a chunk of dividend stocks is for my emergency fund. Dividend stocks are nonvolatile, so it's still a PRETTY safe spot to park rainy day money, get some money off of it instead of it losing to inflation.

I used to work at BNY Mellon, this one time a trade came in, and they use such hilariously old software, that the value of the trade exceeded the amount of 0's available in the entry field. I think the limit was something like 9 digits, and they wanted to buy 10 digits of a security. For whatever reason it had to be put through as one trade, too. They looked really fucking stupid coming up with delays to the client who was buying at least $1,000,000,000 of whatever this Blackrock fund they were selling was. Anyway, about 6 hours later the guys looked like they'd aged 30 years and ended up calling someone who worked there 30 years ago how to do it on paper.

I mean if the founder is on Biden's team, wouldn't it make perfect sense for them to get a government contract?
>I'm only here to swing. Long term holding anything on the precipice of a market downturn is idiotic

>The company now has $535 million in cash and virtually no debt following a stock sale that closed earlier this week, and it said it would be able to fund 100% of the equity investment for Net-Zero 1.
>On a generally wild day on the market, investors seemed to struggle to make sense of Gevo's announcement.
>The renewable energy stock has surged in recent months as the company announced the Net-Zero 1 project, and on hopes that the Biden administration will unleash a boom in green energy and alternative fuels.
>But with the stock's recent growth, high expectations are already baked in and investors should be aware that it will take time for Net-Zero 1 to come on line.
>The company said one of its key initiatives in 2021 was to complete front-end engineering for Net-Zero 1, indicating that construction is unlikely to begin on the key project until at least next year.
That sounds pretty good, but long term, and you're talking swinging this.

It does look good, and the technology is very interesting, but as I said going for long plays is not really a good idea in this climate.
GEVO is gonna take years to build their is-octane plants, and even more to profit from it. The best move currently is shill it and sell after 1-2 catalysts when the valuation goes through the roof, because it will only go down from there.

I might rebuy in 2023 when we hopefully leave the clown market phase and it will be more of a value play.

At least decades, possibly a century or two. Asteroid mining isn't economical until we pretty much run out of the desired material on Earth, or until someone is crazy enough to build Zubrin's NSWR engine.

Mars might be better as a base for asteroid mining, because it's closer to the belt and has less gravity and atmosphere. But that implies significant industrial demands on Mars.

Instant acceleration gets boring pretty quick. It's a bit of a one trick pony, and why I prefer my GT4 over a friends 992 Turbo S. The problem with EV's on track is the additional weight, this just eats through the brakes, the batteries overheat and you can't just stop after a session and refuel, you'd have to wait to recharge.
