They could. But why would they want to help the people that were trying to bankrupt them.

GameStop could have a board meeting, decide they want to issue shares to pay down debt. Have the SEC approve it, sell shares. Pay down debt. Takes time, and usually you have ambulance chasing lawyers that say, "wah, you hurt my clients investment." Best case scenario it turns into the Tesla split, where people bought even more shares of the same pizza for more money like retards. Fundamentals.
