but protocol stuff, beyond just reading github repos, is mostly academic. Andre Cronje occationally publishes theory and guys around Vitalik blog post about things, but the former is the only public person I know who puts stuff on arxiv.

Haven't really kept up with developments in currency related tech since Summer 2019. Even before that, I mostly choose my projects by language (I'm a dependent type theory shill), so Haskell/Scala stuff. Would have been profitable going into Chainlink, but I don't want to spend time reading javascript.
