What effect would the US going back to the gold standard have on crypto? Obviously not all countries will switch to a gold system but the US being one of the largest economies would surely have a leveling effect on crypto right? Are there any reliable gold back cryptos?

Well, the entire financial system and global economy as we know it would collapse in a deflationary death spiral. So yeah, pretty much everything priced in dollars or in any way correlated therewith would shit the bed until a new world reserve was adopted. Why? Simply because the debt is already to the point of being unserviceable even if the US10Y reached 2%. The FED propping up the bond market with infinite liquidity is the only thing keeping the financial system in tact. They need inflation without high long term rates, which is impossible to manage forever.
