It's based on statistics, so it isn't a scam, but I don't feel like just using TA is effective. One industry I see a lot of similarities is in marketing (marketing basically just gambling with people's emotions to get them to buy your stuff). Some people lean really, really heavily on metrics, but they quite often don't tell the whole story.

Like, Ive had ads with a 7% clickthrough rate (a phenomenal result) get outperformed by similar ads with a 1% ctr in terms of ROI. The difference? My first ad captivated, but it didn't qualify prospective buyers hard enough. By turning customers away right at the start, I made my business more profitable. If I just went on performance metrics, I probably would have kept running the ad that showed a way higher interest, but actually wasn't capturing the interest of my target audience.

So ya tl;dr, TA is a tool, but it shouldn't be the only tool you use
