I have inherited over $750,000 CAD, I know this is board is a bit of a meme but any meaningful investments I should think about? I know for a fact i'm going to buy this house valued at 500k as real estate seems to be a really good investment at any point of the market but what do you think I should do with the other 250k, I'm thinking of plopping 10k into GRT when it dumps a bit for sure, otherwise I'm stuck what to do with the remainder, some ideas i've had are...
>mutual fund
>go half and half with my cousin on another property also valued around 500k
>10k in stocks
>save it in a TFSA and learn a trade, invest in a company creating my own contracting business.

Thoughts? Also what would you do in my position, thanks.

You should not buy a house outright in this ultra low rate environment. Put a downpayment on it sufficient to avoid PMI and life insurance stipulations and earn returns on the reminder. Your rate is gonna be ~3%, you can make well in excess of 3% in stocks or whatever.
Putting 98.6% of it in just real estate is honestly really silly btw. $10k in stocks will do nothing for you.
>save it in a TFSA and learn a trade, invest in a company creating my own contracting business.
It's a decent idea but definitely the hardest option and least quantified.
Here's what you do. You get some real estate using the structure described above. You rent it out. Or live in it, I guess. Let's say two properties, 33% down, 500k each. Then you drop 300k in stocks (index funds - these tend to have better fee structures today than mutual funds) and 100k in cryptos. You give yourself the last 20k to consoom and get rid of that itch.

you sound very dumb to be honest, you will lose all that money with such a dumb mindset but sure, i'll bite:

DON'T BUY A HOUSE IN CASH RIGHT NOW ARE YOU RETARDED? they are printing money like there is no tomorrow and you want to be the little good goy that pays it off immediately? Only pay interest, outperform the interest EASILY on the market. Buy some stonks, some bitcoin, some ethereum, some gold, some silver, some shitcoins, some gardening equipment, some power tools and live the boomer dream while paying off a loan that shrinks automatically because rates are this low

If you're spending that much on a house, I don't see why you couldn't get a mortgage on it, dump your inheritance into low-risk ETF's with ~10-15% APY, and cover your payments with said returns and then some

We have already maximum sold out and devalued our dollar. We are already nearing our rock bottom, you have a long ass way to go still.

Just wait til those crazy socialist hags start bullying the old man into printing $$$ for neat bucks and he sends the remaining jobs to China.
All you guys have to look forward to under Biden is bombing sandniggers for 4 year, but that's gonna be followed by refugees tanking the west even further.

This very much. OP sorry for your loss, that must be real hard. Don't make the decision to buy a house rn, it's not a good investment at all.

OP you should listen to that anon, maybe start by putting 100k into crypto, by dcaing 10k every week. I suggest BTC as a safe bet, ALGO, ADA and GRT. Really high upside. It might safely make you millions. Hold for long term, don't look back.

Good luck in your life OP

this doesnt sound intelligent. you want to give up the money to purchase an asset so you can hold what you were meant to pay upfront for the house, but instead keep it in risky assets, maybe even causing you to lose the house? im certain there was a scene in the big short where all the neighbors on the street were "stock" rich, whatever that means. you advocate for a volatile wealth instead of a stable one. lets also ignore famous economic aphorisms made before you were born and follow what everyone else does because we are all investing geniuses
