That table on the right is, I think, mahoganny. And on the left the counter is either light mahoganny or oak with a marble top. And they got rid of that for some shit pine tables with a glass top. And that floor is superb, but they just waxed it or something that took away the shine. I don't even know how much those rugs cost, but I assume over 1000$ for the big one.
But by far the biggest crime is painting over the wood, especially good wood with a nice grain. The large front doors, the interior door frames, that gorgeous handrail. All painted over with some generic white and charcoal.

That depends on how you do it. I buy houses all the time that need "real" repairs and I make plenty of money flipping them.
I have been working construction, mostly framing crews, since I was so young I had to ride my bike to job sites. There is very little I can't do myself with a crew of a half dozen of my regular guys and I own all the tools I can imagine needing apart from heavy equipment.
But I buy my houses and commercial properties at tax sales not off listings. Typically historic homes only. I buy only in "up and coming" areas and only when I can get enough properties in an area that I can establish a beachhead to lure hipsters as renters, and they in turn make the neighborhood cool enough to attract wealthier people to whom I sell.

TLDR: If you can't do the work without a contractor don't flip houses.

I'm even not going to comment on painting over $20k+ of red oak trim.

I will offer the only two positives in my eye:
1Assuming they didn't just pergo over the actual hardwoods, I like what they did with the floor.
2 The original crown molding sucked. Better off painted or removed and replaced with thicker molding that frames the room better.

Bonus unpopular opinion... the original room was actually too warm and "woody" anyways.
