You'd think so, but to be safe you really need to 10x from 1 million. Interest rates suck, so it's hard to earn a high six figure income from 2-3 million if you still want to have significant exposure to crypto and not risk losing your capital. I had 5M at the beginning of 2018 and it dropped to under 2 during crypto winter.

Crypto isn't going away, but the rapid growth phase won't last forever. It depends on how much you have to invest and how much risk you're willing to take on.
If you can invest 30-40k now (basically 1 BTC), then yes, you can have a pretty safe ride to a million in the next 3-5 years. If you have less, then you'll need to find something cheaper that has potential (aka shit-coins) and get a little bit lucky. What you don't want to do is to trade a lot. That cuts your percentages down drastically. Don't buy anything you're not willing to mostly (80%+) hold for 2-3 years.

>> No.26047293

Yeah, with that amount you would really need to get really lucky both with choice and timing. Probably several times in a row. It's probably a better strategy for you to earn income and dollar cost average into a few solid coins and a few speculative coins over time. You'll help your chances if you are willing to do extensive research before you buy.
I waited a couple of years after I bought my first Bitcoin (2013) before I really invested serious money into it, and I spent most of that time reading books about crypto and watching videos on YouTube. So when ETH was released in 2015, I was able to buy into it with confidence to hold it for a long time because I understood the technology and the competitive landscape.

How’s you do it? All in crypto? I got $15k of play money. Always had money going into retirement funds with someone else managing (and he’s done well), but I want something to screw around with and try to make it big. First investment was on 12/31. Up around 75%. Would be higher but I listened to some bad advice on mining stocks. Luckily timed crypto right. I’ve got about 5k in crypto now, 10k traveling from wallet to bank account (going to move into stock portfolio) and $10k in stocks. Just picked about 15 companies that I liked and had a decent trend. Did some technical analysis and am just timing out buying dips and setting a stop loss once I’m above 10% gains. Seem to make at least a few hundred every day with that strategy.

My timing was good. I bought my first Bitcoin in 2013 and a few more in 2014 and 2015. When Ethereum launched I waited for a few months and then FOMO'd into it with about $40k at $8.00 and then didn't look at it for over a year. My biggest gains have been from buy and hold, but obviously that works best when you get in early.

And this may sound like a shill, but I think it's sound advice. This past September, I put about $100k into Polkadot because I think it has a good chance of eating into ETH's market cap significantly. I still think that's the case, and it has only 3x'd from where I bought it.
I'm using it to hedge a much larger position in ETH, but if I were entering the market today, DOT and ADA would be where I would focus. ETH has tremendous momentum, but it is also bandwidth constrained and improving that is taking a long time. In theory, DOT, ADA, and a few other smaller cap coins like AVAX have an opportunity to use their bandwidth advantages to build up an ecosystem like ETH's.
