OTM leaps are sensitive to changes in IV. ITM leaps become nearly immune to vola the deeper ITM they are.
The other advantage is that ITM LEAPs are far less likely to expire worthless than OTM LEAPs. Ideal leverage is 2-3x so an ITM leap basically gives you that kind of multiplier on the movement. OTM really gets bigger gains if it becomes ITM but it will be priced on historic IV.
OTM LEAPs only pay off as lottery tickets vs ITM LEAPs

I think I'm starting to understand.
Let's say I have 7,000 dollars to invest.
I can buy 2 OTM LEAPs, both have a delta of .60
Or, I can buy 1 ITM LEAPs with a delta of .85
Since I have 2 contracts with a delta of .6, I'm effectively getting more leverage, but also expose myself to more risk of things like IV.
The OTM is more risky, but more lucrative since I can get 2 contracts vs 1 for my investment, and the ITM option would be less risky and less lucrative, but still good leverage.
It's just figuring out how much risk you wanna take with IV.

ITM are superior UNLESS you have something happen to a stock like GME on Tuesday. All far OTM options were up something absurd like 30000%+ at the peak. While the ATM/ITM strikes were up only up (lol) ~1000% or so. OTM LEAPS should be treated as lottos and if you actually plan on "investing" in the company, ITM is the way to go. Typically you want to go with a delta of 80-90 because you're basically buying 100 shares on leverage .

Kinda.

When WSB all piles on to one stock by purchasing shittons of options contracts it forces market makers to hedge which can drive the price up if enough redditors pile into one stock.

This causes a positive feedback cycle where MM's purchasing shares to hedge drives up the price. If the price rises, they must dump more money into hedging which causes the price to rise which causes even more call options and the stock gains meme status.

Sometimes people post a neat little chart that shows how this works, but I couldn't find it on google.

But yeah, retail purchasing shares doesn't do much even though retail is gaining market share compared to institutions.

Did I fuck myself over by not using an IRA to invest?

> Brother, cousin and I all invest and love talking about stocks and everything
> He is high 40s, we are mid 30s
> Taxes come up
> Cousin says that my brother and I are fucking up by using regular brokerage accounts
> Says that we’re getting completely fucked by taxes and we’re gonna be paying as much as 40%
> Tells us we really need to use a 401k or IRA because you don’t pay taxes on realized gains
> Also says that I don’t have to worry about penalties from withdrawing money early since we can take out a loan against money in an IRA or 401k
> He starts to scare me that I made a huge mistake, but this doesn’t make sense to me
> I research and look stuff up…

Am I correct anons?

> He’s wrong because 401k money can ONLY come from your paycheck/employer match
> He’s wrong also because you can fund an IRA with only 6K or whatever per year
> You can’t just fund either one of them with a shitload of money from your bank account

Otherwise, what the FUCK would be the point in anyone having a normal brokerage account? We’d all be able to fund our tax-deferred IRAs with hundreds of thousands of dollars then.

So, I’m good r-right? I’m not stupid for having a normal brokerage account?

Posting this one more time, can I please get some advice bros
I have two choices tomorrow
>sell all non WKHS stock and YOLO it all into LEAPs and stock and forget about it until March
>sell everything and take a break from trading as a whole for a while
Everyone seems so optimistic about it despite it dumping due to CEOs being fags and selling shares but they also just found that in high temps their batteries degrade faster.
I can't just immediately give up on it, I haven't even been holding for a month.
At this point though looking at the SEC filings WKHS hasn't had a major stock buy since June of last year
At this point it's a 50/50, either someone buys a massive amount due to the size of the dip or it's going to steadily dump even more.
What do, /biz/ bros?

I think the 4th is about search and seizeures or g_d... im a bad teacher.. I need to teach this constitution to my gf so she can pass her test... i mean if i take 5 minutes for each question i'll figure them all out, but she's still a gook, and she needs to learn... the whole fucking constitution, she needs historry she needs to understand our republic, and why we have judges and powers the way they are...

this country was founded by 13 colonies.. nobody bought into the federal government, those 13 colonies voted into representation... lexington and concord, the commonwealth of Massachuesettes and Pennsylvannia i can't spell their names strait because those commonwealths kept leadership in the hands of the British in the revolutionary war.. They are still by their charters not states, but commonwealths by their charters. The thing is, once in you can't leave... You can, but that's kinda why it's hard to become a state. This is the greatest country, but there needs to be a standard held by all states... it's never been held, and the federal government takes more

The Black-Scholes Model is used by every algo to price and judge the "fair value" of calls or puts including those both ITM or OTM. It is very unlikely you will ever find one that isn't priced "correctly".
Of the 6 values that go into premium calculations, the only one that leads to dramatic shifts in the premium is uncertainty aka vola aka IV.
ITM options are insensitive to IV changes, the deeper ITM they are. OTM options get MORE sensitive to IV changes, the more OTM they are. OTM options are lotto tickets that pay out if you buy a far out strike during low vola, but that is basically trying to predict the future (unless you have insider info). You need both the share price and vola to go upward. Either collapses and it doesn't work. ITM options just generally pay out if the ticker just goes up.

I'm doing some analysis with thinkorswim
I started with 7,000 dollars, and bought 2 OTM LEAPs (deltas of .64 and .61)
I expect ARKK to be at least 200/share by December 31st of this year
At that level, I'll have made a combined profit of 5,894.94 (assuming IV doesn't rape me or something)
If instead I invested that 7,000 into a single LEAP (delta of .84), at 200/share I'd make 4,074.07 profit, and take on virtually zero risk for IV, etc.
The difference in profit would be about ~1,820 dollars.
Let's say something wild happens and ARKK hits 220/share by EOY.
2 OTM LEAPs: 9074.25
1 ITM LEAPs: 5,996.85
You start to really feel the difference if things go absolutely bananas.
Far ITM leaps certainly do seem attractive for their level of risk, though.

Updates on Long-term Positions

The big news for United Natural Foods (UNFI) during the quarter was the CEO’s announcement that he is retiring. More important to our thesis was management’s confidence that the Whole Foods contract extension (going from 2025 to 2030) is likely to be formalized during the next quarter. The market did not receive the CEO retirement news well, but we believe it is good timing as the extension of this important contract will put the company on solid footing and make the transition to a new CEO smoother.

We believe the market is still way behind on UNFI; it is our top pick for 2021. To illustrate, let’s look at a recent report from CFRA analyst Arun Sundaram. He estimated that UNFI’s retail banners could fetch up to $1 billion from external buyers. He then assigned a 12-month target of $22 by applying an EV (enterprise value) / EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization) multiple of 6.8x. He used an adjusted EBITDA estimate of $590M from which he excludes $100M of adjusted EBITDA generated by UNFI’s retail business, assuming it would be sold.

Here is the problem: He took the earnings out of EBITDA but didn’t adjust the EV to account for what would be a $1 billion reduction in debt. With the debt reduction, his price target at a 6.8x multiple would be approximately $40 a share! We believe that UNFI will actually lower its debt even further, using cash from operations, and that it will also have higher EBITDA from continued stay-at-home trends as well as the substantial contract they newly signed with Key Foods. We believe the fair value of UNFI is well over $50 per share. As UNFI extends the Whole Foods contract and continues to grow earnings/reduce debt, we are confident the market will eventually rerate UNFI to levels that are much higher than the current $16 range.

Of course you'll make more money with a lower delta if it ends up ITM. You can also think of delta as the % chance an option has of expiring ITM. So a delta of 64 has a 64% chance of expiring ITM, so you'll make more as soon as the option ends up ITM. I'm sure you've seen the video/pic of that dude on reddit that bought $500 worth of TSLA LEAPS and they are now worth over 1 million today; FAR, FAR OTM LEAPS. You can give it a try, but you gotta remember, something could happen at any point sending the market into a downwards spiral and the premium on those OTM calls could be absolutely obliterated. A lot of money can be made with options and a lot of money can be lost with options. Look at the pros and cons and make your own decision of what's best depending on your risk tolerance. Also always buy them on a red day for obvious reasons. Anyways good luck, I'm off to bed. See you in the morning smg.

look back in the 13 colonies, you had loyalists and federalists... it was a different atmosphere, you had freedom of the press, you had conflicts . james madison was eventually a president himself, or maybe it was his son with the same name, people do that in america, they are a dude and name their son with the same name, fuck my older brother is like a 3rd generation of that born fuck born fuck and born again style of american people. so i think it should be clear this is the first ammendment.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Now I think Pelosi is speaker of the house and fucking up the ability for people for the last part of that. I'm pretty liberal, but look this shit from the left is WRONG! unconstitutional. cancel me, but lets get to the 4th

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

now this one here gets trampled over all the time... look i'm not a judge, im a citizen, and if we can't come to conclusions of our laws, why should i encourage my gf to become a citizen.. i should just move to her country and tell my employees to fuck off your on your own.

did anybody watch the debate when harris ripped into Joe? she called him racist, she said she believed he molested women, and now she's his right arm? i guess it's a left arm... she's aiming for power, she literally was on record saying she believed he sexually assualted a woman... but instead of believing survivors she's just going to accept power and shut up? how can you be for something and change on a dime like that??? they've probably purged all the videos, but if you were alive and watched it... you know.. i don't want to know I wish i was as ignorant as the christian woman who voted for Mayor Pete with out knowing he was a homosexual.

I literally sold my UVXY and SQQQ today, entered a bunch of new bullish long positions, and then Biden bogs the entire market. Classic. Still hedged with a few $12 UVXY calls for next week tho, those should print at least

Better chance with penny stocks. Baghold or accept a small percentage loss on a bad trade versus being completely BTFO with options when the direction and timing is wrong.
