Would you actually use crypto to buy something or do you just hoard it?

Not right now. Once we've finished this bull run, cooled off, and are starting the next one, then I will be more open to the idea of spending with it.

By then, the amount of services/products etc that you'll be able to directly purchase via BTC will be nearly on pair with cash.

But that begs the question, if I purchase a house with BTC, would I be taxed CG on it?

I bought some vidya for BTC in 2011. Back when it was some $15 meme money.
Eh.. had fun, no regrets. Not like it would've changed my life or anything.
Almost cult like HODL mentality together with difficulties of caching out it pretty much the only reason of crazy BTC price.

Nose rings were always giving me an instaboner. Probably because I was alternative kid in 00's.
And "ruining" is overblown too. You can always remove it without even leaving a visible mark.

I spent something like 2-3 bitcoin in 2015 on Newegg and overstock. Some minor regrets there but nothing I can’t handle mentally... yet

You use crypto to buy more crypto. That way your stack grows. Endgame is world domination of course.
