Like just sell at the stop or put a limit order on the stop right? I might have no idea what I'm talking about tbf.

I mean I'm on the charts very often, so I'll really have no use for it. It may just be for people who aren't.

This, it's for when you go to sleep. Except posting your stop to the exchange is just asking for it to be hunted, write your own stop-loss bot if you're not a faggot

It can be a stop limit on a short

>> No.25921812

I had a stop limit set on binance. it hit the price and did nothing.

>>25921092
wtf are you even talking about anon? you mean why would you set a trigger higher than your actual limit order? because large market dumps will trigger your order to be placed....but the price will have already dropped below it before it's executed. if it's a proper dump, you will be left holding the bag, or liquidated because your sell order never executed since it couldn't be done at the price you set.

>>25921825
it's better to use stop-market orders, but most exchanges don't have them. stop-market orders will market buy/sell when your trigger is hit instead of setting a limit order.

>> No.25921969

Stop-losses are double edged swords given the frequent scam wicks in crypto. I rarely use them for that reason. The money I put in crypto is money I've already written off as lost.

I can't I am too dumb atm and can't code. I'm trying to learn how to make an ai that can trade for me on python using indicators but idk that's the goal
>>25921812
Yea I'm trying to find a DEX that has everything binance has with the borrowing and all but is actually good and has low fees. That might not even exist but that's the goal.
>>25921825
You seem to know a lot more than me and I just learning as much as I can about it. Like from what I've read you set a stop and of a buy and after that the price goes below that stop price a limit order it set below that stop price. I may be wrong tho. But if thats the case just sell at the stop price right?
>>25921869
Yea
>>25921969
I don't understand your route of thinking. Sorry can you go into more detail on why you think that?

>> No.25922115

>>25921969
this is why you're poor. best thing you can do is cut losses early, and that's what a stop loss is for. if you're going to use margin, then you should absolutely always set a stop while you're in profit. it's the difference between being liquidated by a scam wick vs. breaking even or taking a small haircut.

Dyor or get the fuck out of this board. There are literally countless videos and guides on exchanges themselves.

>just sell at the stop price right?
i always set the trigger, before the limit. as an example, a token is trading at $10.10 and I set a stop-loss...both the trigger and limit are set for $10. some guy then dumps this coin to $9.99 which causes a panic and everyone dumps it to $0.
because my limit was at $10, it was never filled because there were no buyers at $10 after it was placed.....my trigger was hit, which put the order up, but the price was already lower than my limit by then. Had I set a trigger at $10, and a limit at $9.98...it would have been filled at the moment the trigger was hit

Okay I get you. So its more beneficial in markets that are more volatile. I get it now. I'm on the graph all that time rn cause I really enjoy graphs, as autistic as that is.
What are you holding, if you don't mind me asking?
Ive got image related but I have a leveraged long on ANKR as well.
