if you buy in 2015 and sell in 2020, if i buy in 2020 and sell in 2025, if the next guy buys in 2025 and sells in 2030, we all profit
yes, there needs to be a next guy. that still doesn't make him necessarily a sucker, as fiat money is printed beyond the official value of inflation and devalues worker salaries and lower+middle class lifestyles faster
in other words, there's incentive for bitcoin to appreciate at least as fast as a house
crypto is a fractional reserve system in itself, except rather than the fiat money pile being multiplied to finance increasingly speculative investments to the point finance invests mostly in finance itself, the fiat money pile is spread over the entire time range where people might want to cash out
you can argue crypto is unethical but basically every other investment on earth is worse, so at this point you're arguing against the nature of investing itself
