Do you mean gold card perks? You get points back for money you spend, and you can spend those points in different ways. The most popular thing to do used to be airmiles you could get lots of airmiles that way. An underappreciated perk is that amex have your back if you need to get a refund, that's a perk I definitely appreciate after living through March/April 2020 when everything got cancelled and airlines were not refunding people

Yes the vast majority of places accept amex for me. But I live in London so maybe elsewhere in the UK it's different. Even many small cafes and coffee shops take accept it from my experience. The number of places accepting it isn't really a negative for amex, the real negative is the annual fee (if the card you want has a fee). You have to calculate whether the fee is worth it for you. However some of the amex cards don't have a fee
