I'll go first. About 20 years ago when I was around 12 or 13 and Pokemon cards were big my father had a workshop containing a wide variety of glues and tools. He had a pot of the same type of glue that Pokemon cards packets are sealed with, normal superglue doesn’t cut it when trying to reseal packs as anybody who would reopen one sealed with superglue would be able to tell that the packet had been tampered with. I would go into the British equivalent of Toys R Us (Woolworths) and purchase around £100 worth of Pokemon cards and keep the receipt. I would then open them all up very carefully and replace the good cards with energy cards reseal them and go back to the store asking for a refund saying that my parents went crazy at me. The staff usually refunded the money no questions asked and going around from store to store with this hustle I was able to amass quite a good collection in a short period of time at no cost.

What are your teenage hustle stories?

So once a week you had the ability to buy snacks at school. I usually lend money to people with 50% intrest the next day. And double if they didn't pay me within a week. I made a deal with the local bully to enforce payments. He would get half of the intrest kek. My parents where informed that I was loan sharking so I stopped kek. In 4th grade I sold a magazine that contained n64 and gameboy cheat codes, mixed with comics that me and my friends drew. It was very high quality because I had a nice printer at home. I sold them for $15 each and eventually got in trouble for it. Then in 5th grade I made a website for AIM buddy icons that I created and started taking requests from class mates. Most of the requests came from girls, who wanted buddy icons of them beating up other girls. Didn't get in trouble for that surprisingly. My payment was packs of Big Red gum.

Clever little bastard.

Me and my Chinese friend were about 8 when we figured out you could cut out quarter sized pieces of cardboard and use them in the quarter machines. We used this cardboard he had from China and it was the perfect thickness. We would just trace the quarters and cut it out. We would take our bounty of toys and candy and sell it on the bus for actual dollars. We thought we were geniuses.

Ah, trading cards. When I was younger cards were still in wax or plastic wraps, not foil. At the time holographic, metal, etc...cards were huge and selling for a decent chunk of change. I realized that even though the weight difference wasn’t enough to confidently tell which were money packs, the density would. So I disassembled a stud sensor, extended the wires so I could hold the sensor in my hand and have the rest of the device up my sleeve. I extended the LEDs to an old watch casing. I’d hit the card shop, hold a pack in my hand against the sensor and adjust the sensitivity until the LEDs would click off. Then I’d grab a different pack. If the LEDs didn’t light up, I’d adjust them slightly to make I hadn’t happened to pick up two chase packs. Once I was dialed in, it was the matter of just picking up and checking every pack in a box. Cleaned out my small city’s card shops that summer. My dad was pissed when he found out I destroyed his stud sensor but he forgave me. Was able to do this off and on for about a two years until foil packs became the normal. Made a few thousand $$, though.

I password reset the owners of most other large RuneScape forums (rsboards, fagex, etc), downloaded their user database and would spam email the shit out of them with links to my forum or phishers for RuneScape. I made about $3000 in about 2 months doing that

I was sent home from school after making hundreds of dollars selling garbage pail kids during recess. The teachers confiscated my gains and remaining cards. I would ride my bike to all the stores and towns in the area and buy up as many as I could afford. There were rare cards and the Silverstein kid ratted me out after he paid 20 bucks for a certain card he wanted. The kid tried to keep the card and get the cash back. My little brother kicked the shit out of him later on that summer. My dad was proud of me and reamed the teachers and the board a new asshole. He gave me money to invest in baseball cards and I went to shows and sold complete sleeves and sets, sometimes trading for vintage cards that were truly rare. Made a killing doing that. Took my earnings and invested in Apple since I really like my computers. All you need in life is someone to believe in you. Later in life I believed in my friend who really liked to mine magical gold coins on the internet. Life is good anon. Believe in something.
