Wow bears are vocal about the market and they are not happy. They're discontented with the continuous green days and the effects of infinite stimulus. I guess they were holding out hope for a different fed chairman. There's even a petition that's garnered thousands of signatures to have the corporate debt buy back scheme changed. >Isn't LMT a shit company because all defense stocks are shit?
It's a boomer company but it isn't shit. Most defence stocks are approaching key support levels and with Blumpf leaving the WH are bound to go up.
If a war happens defence stocks are also a great hedge, as the rest of the stock market is likely to dump.
Personally I'm going to start buying LMT, NOC, and RTX. It's unlikely they'll realistically go much lower and if global tensions rise big league then I can take profits and buy discounted non-defence stocks.

Let's look at two different companies, Appian (APPN) and AT&T (T).

>In 2019, Appian's shares opened at 26.25, finishing the year at 38.21, a 45.6% change.

>AT&T's shares opened at 28.50, closing out the year at 39.08, a 37.1% change.

>However, these numbers ignore dividend reinvestment. When we account for dividends, it’s a different story:

>Since Appian does not pay dividends, its total return is its price change, or 45.6%.

>AT&T's returns in 2019 with its $0.51 quarterly dividends reinvested also yielded a 45.6% gain.

>The S&P 500 Index (SPX) is widely considered to be a representation of the American stock market. The quoted price only constitutes the price change of the index's underlying companies. As a result, the true returns of the index are sometimes misquoted.

>The S&P 500 Total Return Index (SPXTR) provides a better picture of the index's true returns because it incorporates dividend reinvestment of its underlying companies.

>For example, in 2019, the S&P 500 climbed 28.9%. But with dividend reinvestment, the S&P 500 total return index actually tacked on 31.5%, a 2.6% difference.

>If we zoom out two decades, the S&P 500 has gained 134.6% since the beginning of the millennium, or growing 4.2% annually as of writing. But with dividend reinvestment, the index actually returned 250.6%, or 6.4% annually, a very profound difference.
