I wanted to get into commodities but it turns out they're all futures meant to be traded short term with weird tax liability implications and lots of random volatility because everyone trading them uses large amounts of leverage.
Also oil is a bit of a gamble. It won't disappear obviously but it might never go back to where it was before either since everyone's trying to invest in replacing it and the over-supply issues plus COVID-19 have shown we can get by with way, way less oil than what was previously believed.
