It's just blatant market manipulation made near impossible to regulate due to transaction obfuscation. They're flash crashing the price by placing block sell orders at significantly lower-than-bid, then picking up some extra size which causes a reversal upwards. All of this has the end effect of making retail investors holding BTC extremely uneasy in their positions, which will push more of them to sell during the next manipulation and the downswings will get larger and larger until an actual crash happens.

Ask yourself what incentive there is for sufficiently large organizations to NOT manipulate the fuck out of the market. The answer is that they have no reason not to. If they were smart about moving around their positions to an array of different wallets and obfuscating the sales/buys so that people don't link it back to them then they take on effectively zero risk of getting prosecuted for market manipulation. They pulled this same shit in stocks and bonds in 1929 before the mega crash.

Now you know what's going on. Screencap this.

Citadel won’t maintain and build itself. We need nocoiners anyway - you will be able to buy, lets say, toilet cleaning service for 1sat from nocoiner (because he will be desparate for sats), but those who already have enough btc, wouldn’t clean toilets even for hundreds of sats. I hope you get the idea.

My proposal for citadel composition: 1% of us
9% of strong men who will be like police in our citadel. Highly paid to keep the order in tact and not to turn against us
30% of men, hard working wagies who aren’t lazy and are their field experts. We need them to build and maintain citadel.
60% of women, beautiful and young, non libtard. They will be “free” but won’t have vote rights. We will have more of them than men to keep men happy (and us ;) ) and maybe this “inbalance” will make them behave better when they know there’s another girl waiting to replace her.
ALL THE PEOPLE TO BE INVITED TO CITADEL WILL BE PRECHOSEN BY US. Basically each of us will have a right and duty to invite 9 persons as policemen, 30 non lazy professionals and 60 sexy non feminist women as per their choice.

Here's the hypothetical rundown:

Let's say I own $1b in BTC and I had the foresight to create a bunch of different anonymous wallets before I bought up my position. Assume that transactions made by these wallets are virtually untraceable to me.

I see that BTC has been struggling around $30k recently despite a good amount of volume. This leads me to believe that nobody is sure whether the price should blow up to $40k from here or drop like a rock to $20k. I'm greedy, and I want to buy more at a lower price than right now maybe just to turn around instantly for a quick profit. I look at the current Bid/Ask and it's something like $30,000 bid // $30,020 ask. I programmatically sell off 8000 BTC (worth ~$240mm at current price) on an exponentially decreasing cost curve between $30k and $29k from a fuckload of different wallets. What people think they see is the beginning of a crash, so the fearful holders start selling and drive the price even lower. If I'm lucky, maybe it reaches $28k, at which point I programmatically begin buying back up my 8k BTC plus an additional 1k. People see this as a wide array of institutions / retail investors "buying the dip" and preventing a crash, so they start buying up too trying to take advantage of temporarily low prices and the price comes back up to $30k, maybe even goes to $30.5k. If all went well, I'll have completely manipulated the market and bought more BTC at a lower price.

I exaggerate the price swings a bit for clarity, but this is the big idea put as simply as I'm able to. There's nothing stopping institutional investors / whales from doing this, and if they're smart about it then it is an excellent way for them to make quick profit.

Sure, basically what I mean is that they programmatically sell a big position at lower-than-market from a ton of different wallets. To outside observers, this looks like a bunch of different entities selling at lower and lower prices - the beginning of a "crash". People who were afraid of getting caught up in a crash will likely sell, driving the price further down. Then whoever is manipulating the market can start buying back up an equally large, or larger, position than they sold and not just stop the bleeding but end up making people rush in to "buy the fucking dip" and the price will rebound to an even higher one than what it was before the whole operation began.

BTC is the ultimate currency for greedy banks that desperately wish they could manipulate stock / bonds markets like this. Many of its advantages culminate in it being the perfect asset for price manipulation by institutions at the expense of retail investors:
>transaction programmability
>pooled transactions
>no barrier-to-entry to create many different wallets that aren't linked back to you
>raging controversy over whether it's worthless or worth trillions

In the example, the buy pressure while the entity manipulating the price is doing their thing will likely be initiated by that entity. The whole point is to scare everyone into selling then convince everyone to flood into buying at the "dip".

There will always be some latent buy pressure unrelated to any manipulation, sometimes more than normal and sometimes less, but the major initiating factor in the selloff's and buy-up's in the manipulation case is, well, the manipulator.

https://www.caroli.org/en/the-technology-adoption-curve/

They claim it follows the adoption curve.
Rather than Bitcoin price action behaving like a traditional stock market share price, we see it act more like a technology being adopted at an exponential rate. This is because Bitcoin is a network being adopted by society, and because it is decentralised money with limited supply, its price is a direct representation of that adoption process. There are a number of regression analysis tools and stock to flow ratio studies that are helping us to understand the direction of Bitcoin’s adoption curve.
Honestly, I think the price action has more to do with shidding and farding.

So if I made a complete copy of bitcoin and called it Fartcoin (same exact protocol), then it would follow the adoption curve because it's the same technology as bitcoin?

Price action is 100% shids and fards because the above would never happen, which tells me the "valuation" given to BTC is not based at all on its technology but just the meme factor

>> No.25436606

>>25436432
No, that is very unrealistic and silly. Why would someone use your fartcoin if it is the same protocol? The tech is already being adopted. bitcoin tech, but also overall blockchain tech is being more widely adopted. Did you happen to read the links I provided or did you just go right for the shidding and farding and go from there? I have provided other links to articles that show that past cycle tops were perfectly in line with mathematical shit done to teh data, such as comparing 1.6 the 350dma and other fibonacci sequence numbers. It all matches up surprisingly well. it is just math, anon. The math doesn't lie, and it doesn't stink up the room like your shidds and farts. On a different note, I once had to shid really bad at teh local town park. Of course, those assholes lock the fucking public bathrooms becaues that makes a lot of sense. Well if what I've made is an exact copy of bitcoin protocol, i.e. the same technology, then effectively I've doubled the supply. Nothing about 1 bitcoin is
different from 1 fartcoin except the price, so it presents an extremely opportune arbitrage play.

If you go looking for regressive techniques explaining any kind of extreme price movements, it's not difficult to find them. This was very popular with ABS products in 2006/7.
