The problem is they're minting USDT to buy bitcoin with, which is then used to mint more usdt and buy more bitcoin. This only really works if bitcoin continues to go up in value. In their own words (so its probably less), only about 75% of tether is actually backed by any assets, and once the price pulls back, and people start trying to sell, the crash is going to be made exponentially larger.

Not a nocoiner, but that is possible because of how market cap is calculated.

Suppose literally no one else is retarded enough to pay $1m for a bitcoin. You and I scrape together $1m and trade a bitcoin back and forth for the lulz. That 1m has suddenly "manipulated" BTC's market cap up to $18.6 trillion. So tether would just need to hit the right sell walls for their $21b to count.

Even cooler ... You can print Tether and pump it into the exchange you own ... Bitfinex ... and then buy and sell BTC using that Tether, back and forth to yourself (using multiple company/exchange owned accounts in Bitfinex), ad infinitum.

And even cooler ... you can take long positions in BTC, or short positions, using leverage, on other exchanges, knowing you are about to pump it, or dump it, using Tether on your own exchange (Bitifinex), because you know the prices quickly equalize across all exchanges.

And the best ... you can transfer that Tether-bought BTC from your own exchange to US dollar based exchanges and cash out for actual cash.

as much as I beleive tether has the ability to artifially pump the market, you also have to keep in mind that its also very common for someone to use any sort of OTC market or even an exchange that needs to replenish its supply for its customers so they can load up.

I myself do this I usually load up on tether or USDC before I even pull the trigger and buy crypto, I generally hoard it until I find my entry.

why is every signal of tether buying mean its out of thin air?

But i can go on my local yuropoor lowfee exchange and buy bitcoin with my debitcard at 0 fees directly from EUR. Or wire EUR/USD/local shit currency directly into wallet than buy BTC/EUR/USD on the spot.
I never understood this tether shit, always viewed it as daytrader bullshit used to lock a position and reenter quickly when needed. Who the fuck uses tether to cash out?
I've been buying crypto since 2016, never touched tether or any stablecoin.
But this USDT "printing" seems sketchy as fuck tho, i don't think it will end well.

There is no way any Tether exchange has enough actual US dollars to cover a large scale cashout scenario. Which is why the Tether fraud is so dangerous ... a price drop is one thing, a price drop and an exchange implosion is much much worse.

Get your BTC to an exchange that does not use Tether.

>If USDT turns out to be priced by nothing, it means BTC IS WORTH 30000 USDT, NOT USD
But there are also people right now buying btc with real USD, not tether.
>IT MEANS THE MARKET, WHO WANTS 30000 USD FOR THEIR BITCOIN AND NOT 30000 USDT, WILL SELL BECAUSE THEY KNOW THERE IS NOT ENOUGH USD IS THE SYSTEM.
You're not making any sense anon, if the market wants 30k usd for their btc then they will put a sell order at 30k usd nothing more nothing less.

Zero implication. Last time tether unpegged and everyone panicked they bought any coin they could. Btc shot up hundreds instantly and every alt was up 20-50% immediately. Then slow bleed down as everyone realized nothing happened.

Jesus how dumb are you? Market cap in crypto is a figure of speech. It isn't an actual pool of cash sitting somewhere that gives value to any of this.
I can create an ERC-20 shitcoin, market it as the next big hit even when it does nothing, and print a circulating supply of 100 million. Then I sell it at $1. Boom, my worthless shitcoin has a market cap of $100 million. Do you get it now?
With USDT it is different because they are SUPPOSED to be pegged to $1, as if, every single USDT should be able to be cashed out to an actual 1 USD. But it is all bullshit, they are not transparent and are printing empty money.

>> No.25425251

The US can print that much without any negative short term effects because many people in the world are saving their income/earnings in dollars. What the fuck are they going to do once shit goes back to normal?
