Autistic satellite engineer from a couple threads ago, I think this is solid advice but I'd add MAXR on that list because they're the only major player that I know of who are seriously developing ISRU technology, they're also the main contractor for the Power & Propulsion Element on the lunar gateway AND they have a pretty great business in their earth observation segment.

Also, don't expect the space industry to be like the dotcom boom, establishing a meaningful economy off planet is going to be the work of many decades but getting in now is a pretty low risk decision that could have quite excellent returns in the medium/long term.

SPCE is garbage, Boeing Space is almost as bad and I think BA would actually be a lot better off to divest that segment entirely

Looking at NPA, the company they're acquiring is AST Spacemobile. This isn't going to be the next internet, latency is just too bad for it to ever be mainstream. It will be extremely useful for use cases like rural towns / people hiking / disaster response, but it's not going to meaningfully disrupt conventional internet communications standards using the various undersea cables to connect data centers globally. Not to mention that global space internet constellations are a fiercely competitive arena right now (Starlink, OneWeb, Kuiper, AST Spacemobile, etc).

LMT is also a good one to know about, basically NOC twin and they pretend to hate each other while eating up all the taxpayer money that Congress feeds them. They do have pretty great infrastructure for space observation and orbit determination, which will be an immense advantage as orbit gets more regulated by various governments and supranational organizations.

Oh it's you, hello again! My main aversion to being as optimistic as you on the meteoric rise in the space industry is just how tightly linked it is to hardware development. Space mission development happens on the scale of a decade because of how much design iteration needs to happen, and they more often go over budget than under budget. I do think the mission development timelines will start to decrease, and they've already begun to do so, but I don't think it will be a fast process. The major thing that has contributed to this decrease is the fact that private companies are involved to a much larger extent than they ever have been, and it's not just the same 4 fucking defense contractors (NOC, LMT, BA, United Launch Alliance). Still, I don't think how quickly the industry progresses matters as much as the fact that it will inevitably progress and a lot of money can be made by playing that the right way.

the thing that makes me optimistic about starship is just how much sheer capacity it has for such a low target price – if it comes anywhere near $20/kg as claimed, mission development timelines should shrink dramatically because you won't need to overengineer every screw for maximum weight savings

I had a realization today that thanks to the success of my trading I actually could probably drastically downsize my life and move somewhere tropical buying a condo straight cash if I so desire (or just putting down a huge down payment and paying pennies a month) and still having a nice size trading account which is currently making me a lot of money. If I had to guess what the "big thing" of 2021 will be, I would put my money towards vidya. My idea here is that it's the kind of thing that grows fast as soon as a nation has sufficient internet / tech infrastructure and isn't limited to only growing for developed nations - plenty of developing world nations (brazil, india, the UK, etc) have very strong consumer interest in vidya. I also wonder if there might be some advantages to mobile gaming arising from 5G, even though I think mobile "games" are retarded and usually scams designed to make kids burn $100s of their parents' dollars on premium in-game currency. Maybe a more pessimistic view of why I think this could be a good thesis is that life in 2020 got pretty bad for a lot of people (broaden your thinking to how the quality of life has been affected for people outside of the developed world), and I think a lot of them have turned to and will continue to turn towards video games as a means of escaping reality. That's why I became so enamored with video games as a kid and I think it's why a lot of people did back before it was mainstream enough that kids today are cool for playing fortnite and not getting bullied over it.

I think this because many institutions / individuals have been following an investment 'rule' to keep 1% of their assets in Bitcoin
For an institution especially, they have to follow these distribution percentages
Eg. If they are to have 10% of their holdings in gold, and gold appreciates to where it is now worth 12% of their portfolio, they sell their gold holdings until it is back to 10% of their portfolio
I think that this rebalancing is going to hit BTC as well, as it has appreciated so much that there is no way that it isn't above the % designations
I think that we will see a short-term pullback / consolidation, well above 20K, as big money needs to sell some of their BTC in the New Year
They'll get the added benefit of making their books look really good with a big profit pulled in on the new year, plus their taxes will not be due until April 2022
At the end of the day I think that the portfolio managers will both be trying to follow their % distribution of assets, trying to take advantage of the further out taxes, and trying to pad their books / make their profits for the new year look good
I think it is going to bounce at $30K-$30.5K

Taxpayers aren't going to support the company forever, and probably not even long enough for them to bring down production costs to make widely-affordable consumer models.
