I have to do a Behavior-Based Interview tomorrow on the phone. I already have some prepped stories anticipating the questions. It's for a gov't job. I'm very nervous. Any other strategies to succeed and not be nervous? I'm debating having a shot a half an hour before.

This interview stage is HR trying to decide if you're a goofball or not. You'll be fine, they're looking for candor and professionalism. Ie, if they ask what you'd do to resolve a work dispute don't tell them you'd bodyslam the offending colleague.

I guess I should have said "sound relaxed". The person on the other end can tell you're doing something. I think I've only ever failed one phone interview using this trick as it stops me "erming"

if this is for some kind of clearance requiring position they are trying to appraise your loyalty and honesty, i'm assuming they've already required you to do some kind of cognitive assessment. this is just my opinion on what they're really testing you for and i'm basing it on ppl i know who have told me about their past gov related jobs. maybe it is no longer this way, i don't know. i don't think you can fake what they're looking for if its an actually important job so just be honest.

It's for HR. Non-clearance but drug tested. I don't plan on lying, so that won't be a problem. I did take a cognitive test online (it felt like SAT) and I did well enough to be referred to the next process I am at now.

Thanks anon. I sometimes think about all of the girls I found so pretty and almost pissed myself over. If I would have dated them, they wouldn't have made me happy. The one that loved me wasn't ideal at first. It's weird how life works out. I'm sure I would be better off somehow without this job, but it appears so bleak. I only try and go forward. It's all I can ever do.
