Hello /biz/ i'm in Canada. Just opened up a TFSA. I've got up to 20K to invest. Suggestions for what I should invest in? No crypto. I have absolutely no idea what i'm doing. Don't wanna wageslave 40 years.

Pick one. 20k will not save you from wageslaving, the only possible exception to this is the gains possible from Crypto. Figure it out or accept your fate.

I have taken the pirate pill and pirate as much entertainment as I can, essentially freeing up media expenses and allocating it to investments.

I am 26. I live with my parents and save 0 expenses. I can keep this situation going for around 4 more years. I make 40K yearly and wouldn't expected it to go past 52K in that time at my current job. Hard to gauge as this is my first year wageslaving and my salary has changed multiple times and i'm starting a new position in the new year.

My original goal was/is to just turbo a modest house and pay it off in full. I don't know much about real estate but it's an asset i'd like to have regardless.

RRSP isn't really appealing to me as idk what long term income will be like and again, really don't want to wageslave, at least full time, for more than like a decade.

>20k will not save you from wageslaving,
I'm assuming I can make about 100kish net in the next 4 years as I have virtually no expenses. I just want to be free from wage slavery, which to me seems like the best bet is avoiding a mortgage I have to pay off over a 25 year period or some crazy shit. with no mortgage, I could probably work parttime with some investments helping me out.

i'm only touching crypto once I have some idea what i'm looking at unless a bitcoin tier meme occurs. I remember in like 2011 I was hearing about bitcoin but had literally 0 monies. It would have to be a huge thing normies haven't heard about yet and not some indian scam which I doubt will ever happen again unless crypto 2.0 comes out.

Bumping because I'm interested in learning more about the Canadian equity & debt markets. Can you give me the qrd on TFSAs?

Have not looked into Canada in detail but a main worry of mine right now is CAD value erosion, pic related is Canadian M1. I know it's a similar graph for all developed economies but Canadian rates are currently at ~1.7% so I don't know how much room the BoC has to raise rates if they need to counteract inflation without being extremely detrimental to consumers, though this would make it possibly one of the most attractive debt markets from a yield perspective. That being said, CPI forecasts are 0.7 - 1.9 for 2020 through 2022. I generally do not give much credence to CPI though because the baskets don't seem to keep up to date very well.

Are Canadian investors putting a larger portion of their portfolios into bonds given relatively high rates (0.25% overnight) compared to the US (0.09%) and EU (-0.5%)? This is the only reason I can think of for lower yields on the BOC 10 years than on US 10 year treasuries despite higher coupon on the BOC notes

Tax free savings account with no tax on any capital gains made with money in that account, can be withdrawn at will.

There is a maximum contribution limit set each year of around 6K which stretching back to 2009/whatever year you turned 18 in.

In other words from what I understand it's incredibly based. The cap is high enough to be of little worry to normalfags while keeping it from being insane for rich people.

Wow that actually sounds amazing.

Leafs, what banks or brokers would you recommend for investment accounts / a TFSA?
