God is not "good." God is infinitely powerful. God created life, and life needs to be flawed and independent for it to be life. If the universe is perfect and everyone does the same perfect thing then it's not life- it's just a stagnant extension of God, and that's not what it wants. Being able (and having the insight) to create unpredictable free-willed life and universe is what sets God apart from humans that foolishly try to create perfection, which is impossible and ironically flawed anyways (a perfect "good" world is ironically a lifeless, joyless world because happiness is relative- “happiness” is the absence of pain, so it's impossible to be happy without experiencing pain and sadness first).

In giving us a flawed world, God gifted us true life full of movement, joy and appreciation for all things good. It is a blessing that most underestimate to a criminal level.

I used to think this, but when you think about it, it quickly leads to a slippery slope. How would god prevent rape from happening exactly? But lets say he prevented it from happening. What about being sexually molested, but not raped? That should be stopped too, right? Or should the line arbitrarily be drawn at rape? What about making a suggestive comment? The point is that people will ALWAYS try to blame God for ANY bad that goes on in the world. The final argument basically becomes "Why isn't earth like heaven?". And the answer is because earth isn't suppose to be like heaven. Horrible, terrible things happen in this life. But I assure you, they are much less meaningful when you pass on from this world. You'll look at your lifeless flesh body and realize how inconsequential it all was, and how there were very few meaningful aspects of your existence. And the people who did evil will be made to experience the evil that they inflicted on others. To "walk in their shoes" so to speak. And they will either realize what they did was wrong, and be forgiven if asked, or they won't realize what they did was wrong, and they will go to a place that will allow them to further experience pain for themselves until they do learn.

I never said that our world/existence/life is perfect. Maybe I implied it? My view is that God is such a perfect being that it doesn't give a damn about making imperfect things. What is the origins of Gnosticism anyways? I was interested in Gnosticism for a long time because I could tell that the guy that first thought of the Demiurge idea must've really, really hated his life and existence. It's like the quintessential pessimist "I hate my life and existence" movement (I never dug too deep into Gnosticism so don't kill me for oversimplifying things).
