I am personally very frugal and handy, but I put a high high premium on living alone in my own house.

So I spend $1200 a month on rent (>$200 more in utilities) for a house that I don't necessarily need. What is the crux to your savings?

Same op. My most ridiculous expense is my rent. I spent a long time renting just a room in a random house and then had a shitty little one bedroom apt.
Saved a lot of money and during this time and invested it all.
So now I spend more than I should to have a fancy apartment on the water. Oh well.

I don't see how living alone counts here. I mean yeah you can get a gf but it would be more expensive, not less. Anyway I got a mortgage and knocked $400/mo off my housing costs while getting closer to work. Still haven't unpacked yet.
My weakness is buying girl stuff.
