When the economy tanks, people lose their homes, money becomes worthless and you're getting richer and richer and the government has an obvious and single scapegoat to call for the economy tanking - Bitcoin and crypto, it's going to get violent. The government doesn't need to be able to outlaw Bitcoin. They just need to tell everybody that it's your fault the economy is tanking and they'll come after you.
