99% of people get porn through tube sites. back in the early 2000s when people paid for porn there was piracy on torrent sites, but most people if they wanted porn would pay for it. tube sites changed all that and really killed porn production companies since there was no profit. Yeah you might be right, I think laws like this are an inevitability at this point. It has been talked about more and more amongst boomer politicians.
I still think that if such a law went through we would see an uptick in torrent usage. Everyone has a threshold for paying for shit, I would never consider paying for porn.
Also back in the early 2000's you were much more limited by bandwidth and low amounts of seeders, now it's comparatively fast and easy to download a torrent. Although the authorities have gotten wiser to it as well.
I think in the end we will see more people paying for porn, but also a revitalization of alternative channels for downloading porn, such as torrents for those whose purchasing threshold is a bit higher.
