I used to think like you, however there's some uses cases for blockchain that is not digital cash.
proof of existence (the proof that a document existed at a given point of time) and voting audit of a pseudonym.

the question is: will it all happen on one single (bitcoin) public blockchain, or will there be other public blockchains equally safe for that?
