As you all know Ethereum is moving over to the Ethereum 2.0 blockchain. After this is complete, people who hold ETH 1.0 tokens will need to Swap them
with ETH 2.0 tokens.
This "Swap" is a Taxable event.

"Okay, well fuck Ethereum and vitalik, I hold chainlink so why should i give a fuck?"

Chainlink is an ERC-20 token, Anon. An ETH riding baby back bitch boy.

For your Chainlink tokens to remain viable and relevant you will have to swap your Chainlink ERC-20 tokens over for the new ETH 2.0 Chainlink tokens.
This "Swap" is a taxable event.
With short term capital gains tax at 33%, you can say goodbye to 1/3 of your stinkies to cover taxes.

Nothing personal, Cornpop, but Uncle Sam needs his cut.

I'm selling my whole stack now before the rest of the marines realize this, causing a massive sell off.
See you all at $2.

We will all have to swap our chainlink stacks over to the new Eth blockchain.

The gains are based on the price when you originally purchased the coin vs where you sold it. If there’s a dip and the transfers happens when it’s less than you paid, you can claim a loss. If it spikes in anticipation, though, fuck the IRS. This really should be a like-kind exchange, like they were before 2018. Fucking politicians.

When you are forced to swap your chainlink from Eth 1.0 to the chainlink on eth 2.0 you will have to pay the capital gains tax.
Swapping one crypto for another is a taxable event and you will have to pay the capital gains tax from when you originally bought Chainlink.

It's real simple anon.

You are correct, there isn't going to be a chainlink 2. That's not what im saying here.

There is just going to be Chainlink on the New Ethereum 2.0 blockchain and to get that Chainlink on the new Ethereum 2.0 blockchain you have to swap to it from the Chainlink on the old Ethereum 1.0 blockchain.

That swap is a Cryptocurrency to cryptocurrency trade. A taxable event. Even though you're literally swapping chainlink for chainlink it is still a cryptocurrency to cryptocurrency trade. So it is still a taxable event.

Believe me i don't like this anymore than anybody else here, but it is what it is.

The tax man cometh for us all and there is nothing we can do to stop it.

You can continue to hold your chainlink tokens on the old ethereum 1.0 blockchain. But they will be completely useless and eventually ethereum 1.0 will stop being mined completely because all the miners will move over to ethereum 2.0 so your chainlink willl be stuck there on the eth 1.0 blockchain...forever. unable to be moved, transferred, sold, or staked.

>> No.24573519

if chainlink switches, it wouldnt effect existing chainlink holders, it would be on chainlinks side. If they wanted to split the coin between the two networks, then there would be an airdrop. glad you got filtered and sold tho.

the plain truth is anon, even if crypto to crypto is taxable most anons here don't pay tax anyway
There is no way for govs to enforce this, they cannot keep track of all crypto swaps and addresses. All they monitor is the Coinbase exchange and some others to see if anyone cashes out more than 10k or so.

In fact, all those anons who deposited LINK on Aave should also pay since that is actually a swap to aLink tokens. But no one pays that shit.

Not me of course I don't even hold crypto.

All you're doing is highlighting the issue with legacy laws being applied to digital assets. The IRS doesnt know who does or doesnt hold chainlink. And I'm sure the vast majority of crypto holders already have outstanding taxes or ambiguous tax situations. Like is depositing link on aave taxable because you swap it for ALINK? Then ALINK TO YALINK is also taxable? Theres already so many instances of this that the ETH 2.0 swap isnt introducing anything new.
