What was /biz/ like when BTC was in its early days, 2009-2011?

They also had thread on /b/ where people would give a away Bitcoin.
I remember some guy asked $400 in BTC to pay his rent and I was like wtf?
This was pre 2011, I remember thinking it was some sort of hacking scam or mlm shit

Sounds amazing. I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t crypto that brought me here, but I’ve wisened up since and realise how much good thread potential is wasted by the insane obsession of crypto on this board.

/biz/ was created in 2014 to contain Bitcoin and Dogecoin threads from other boards. We were just teenagers and young adults using their chump change to gamble on shitcoins with zero use case, 'making it' meant accumulating a few grand or BTC. In 2015 nobody talked about crypto, 2016 saw a complete rebirth and 2017 was a batshit crazy

Everyone called it a ponzi scheme. It was hard to use and in bonus wallet UI were total crap.

The guys from /g/ were mostly into mining, and I assume most either stopped after regular people were basically priced out, or scaled up their operations and left 4chan. I can't prove this, but it wouldn't surprise me if a few of the larger mining operations (warehouses full of ASIC miners) were started by guys from /g/, since I remember lots of people filling up their basements and such with racks of rigs even back in 2009/10

Dogecoin killed crypto on /g/.

That's when I was active on biz towards the end of college - I still have screen grabs with some pretty sweet career and (real) investment advice before even FIRE was a meme concept.

Definitely not THE resource, but got me pointed in the right direction towards other dedicated/focused forums (e.g. Value Investors Club) and blogs before Reddit consoomed everything and watered it down.

I actually left Biz because of the non-stop coin shilling, lmao, now i feel like a retard.
