Something UTZ buyers might want to research / look into - I remember when I was doing research for McDonalds earnings 2 weeks ago I was looking into the price of potatoes to examine their margins, I was surprised to see that the price of potatoes had risen substantially (after seeing a documentary about potatoes being mass dumped during covid I had assumed the price of potatoes was way down)
I could have been looking at incorrect data
but if it was accurate / representational of potato sales, it is going to squeeze UTZ who is more "locked in" to the price they sell their bags at

I'm trying to figure out covered calls, help a bro out.

Basically, because of premiums, it's almost always better to sell covered calls instead of closing your position, right? The only time the latter is better is when the stock dramatically falls or raises.

>$10 call with $1 premium is basically the same as selling for $11
>If you collect the premium but the call isn't collected, you essentially lower your buying average by $1.
>The only time you actually lose money is if the stock falls dramatically, you may still have gotten a premium but now you're stuck with a shitstock.
>You don't LOSE money, but you miss out on huge gains if the stock somehow goes up a lot.

Is this right? I'm trying to get into calls so I can MAKE IT, I have a few stocks that aren't moving recently.

Yes largely, covvies are a blessed instrument. Make sure to check the option chain b4 you enter an underlying for the purposes of selling covered, ones that offer weeklies as opposed to monthlies are obviously more nimble, and if there isn't enough IV or delta you might not get a good enough price for them to justify hamstringing potential upside. Just do some basic math, a $500 share price for GME equates to a 32.5 BILLION dollar market cap. Anyone that thinks that'll happen is a fucking retard. Its already very clear the majority of the shorts are owned by institutions with billions of dollars in collateral. There would have to be some major happening for them to close their shorts. A momentary 10% rise isn't gonna do it either. There has been many times where after a +10% day, it goes down -10% the next day. Even though its $16 right now its still a fucking penny stock.

It really depends on what you want.
Peter Lynch's "Beating the street" is a complete waste of time. It's just stupid stock market bla bla for plebs without a fucking clue and no brain.
I can only assume that "The intelligent investor" is very similar in that regard. "Predictably Irrational" was recommended to me because hurr durr psychology but it's over 300 pages mostly filled with stupid anecdotes that don't prove amything. You could easily condense that book to 50 pages and not miss a thing.
"The art of short selling " wasn't that bad. It's mostly about sniffing out bullshit companies. It's a bunch of examples instead of "how to"s but that's simply the case because you can't really generalize the process. "cash flow for dummies" is pretty good for starting out with accounting. "Beyond earnings" should be read after that.

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to invest in Palantir. The company itself is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of coding and sata structuring most of the tech and its applications will go over a typical investors head. There's also societys nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into a dystopian high tech future- this philosophy draws heavily from Orwellian literature, for instance. The PLTR investor understands this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of this company, to realize that they're not just a company- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike PLTR ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the inclination in what PLTRs CEO said when he said, "We believe in augmenting human intelligence, not replacing it," which itself is a cryptic reference to Huxleys magnum opus Brave New World. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Alexander Karp's genius wit unfolds itself on their brokerage sites. What fools.. how I pity them.

Ok. Well about the meme stocks, you have to do your own research into those companies and decide if you believe they'll do well long term. Just blindly following people on here is a good way to lose money, despite /smg/ giving plenty of great tips. Look at NAK for example

With your SPACs, it depends if you have a day job or if you have time to watch the green and red dildos all day. SPACs tend to pump and then dump near the merger time. I have a full time job and don't want the stress so I don't bother with SPACs... I might invest in some of them once the mergers are done and the tickers switch over, if I see potential

It's a perfectly fine buy right now. Consolidated after the 4:1 split and sitting on the sidelines crabbing as the value rotation/recovery continues. Sitting a bit below multiples it was trading at before.
Economic recoveries are generally bad for utilities because they're sensitive to a rising rate environment, but there's really no way a full recovery with rising rates happens given that we're locked in to 0 fed funds rate for 3 years.

What you need to know about regulated utilities is that they're insulated from most avenues of failure including lockdowns. Lost revenue can be recovered through recovery mechanisms, tax negotiations, and rate cases. Bad debt is a nonissue for most of the sector, even more so now given how desperate the bond market is for yield. In reality, companies like NEE will continue to grow eps 6%+ a year minimum with next to no variance. So while theoretically the best time to buy utilities is late cycle, there's never really a poor time to buy them fundamentally.

No, denmark and norway have already eliminated their middle class, completely. The wealth gap in these countries is pretty much as big as it can be and there's 0 upward mobility. You will always be in the class you're born in. On top of that, you are fully government dependent just to survive (only the rich don't need government assistance to even so much as get a roof over their head). There is no industry to speak of, and they even have that concept that if you know something or are good at something, you must pretend that you don't know the thing or that you don't know how to do the thing (vaguely translated, "nail that sticks out"). Basically, not only is there no opportunity, it is socially unacceptable to seek opportunities.
Australia is like Canada: insane prices only going through the roof due to China """investors""", high unemployment rates, no industry worth mentioning, crap salaries, extremely limited upward mobility generally limited to the world of finance and not much else, a government that tries its hardest to eliminate the middle class (but unlike the northern countries, does not plan to help maintain the middle class living standard through gibs) and generally despises its people, etc.

Speaking as a degenrate alcoholic, it's mostly because people like getting fucked up, I might blame my drinking problem on how shit everything is, but when it comes down to it my favorite thing is getting as closes to black out drunk as I can for as long as I can, sober 90 days now and it's boring, I know it'll be better in the long run but there's always going to be the voice in my head saying "It's all bullshit anyways cunt, lets get a bottle of vodka and then drive to get food later on"

You're probably a Euro trying to apply the rest of the world logic to America because you don't realize it's sheer size. Everyone with money abandoned cities to the niggs back in the 50s and all left. They let the homeless and meth addicts wreak havoc out their to keep them out of their suburban areas that are 90% white and have money out the ass. They never go to the city more than once every few months outside of dinner or a sporting event in a small portion of the city that is heavily policed during game or dinner hours.

Can you are Americans are cucks for abandoning the most desirable places to live to niggers and rebuilding mcmansions in the middle of nowhere thirty minutes outside the city though yeah.

There are about 3 countries in the world where you don't technically need cars, every other country you either literally need a car (no public transport worth mentioning), or you need a car in practice (house prices in cities are impossible, but you can find affordable houses further out at the cost of needing a car).
You are right about student payment, BUT in half the world you make fuckall (relative to cost of life) so you couldn't afford a US-style loan even if it was offered to you.
