did anyone else here get fucked by shit parents? i didnt know anything about investing until just now because my parents were poor and dont care about anything. my dad watched jim cramer and just laughed whenever he made a funny noise and never learned anything.

i saw this post where this dudes dad invested in stocks 10 years ago and forgot and just opened up a portfolio randomly with 80k in it. my dad just smoked cigarettes and drank beer he never invested a dollar. i live in utter poverty in a shit hole 40 miles from anything. i never got help buying a car, or going on vacations, or bieng happy or do anything. all i got was a computer to sit in my room all day and it made me fucking miserable i just wanted to be normal.

My parents lost like two apartments on mortages after the economy in our coutry took a big hit post 2008 and my dad built a big house in the middle of fucking nowhere that now sits completel uninhabited for years because he is in a asylum due to needing constant medical care due to his mental and physical decay. Basically even if he were to sell that house somehow he would never recover the money he put in. Waste, a complete waste.

All in all I would estimate a $250k-$300k or so loss. Now we are all poor as fuck.

My dad dropped out of highschool when he was 17, got a 15 year old pregnant, and later became a stone mason and eventually owned his own company where he made 6 figures. Ended up having 3 kids with the woman before divorcing her and then married my mom, paid for her to go to college and become an RN, had 3 more kids, then got leukemia when I was 6 years old. He lost his business, family got fucked because of back taxes that would have been paid for had the leukemia not happened. He ended getting some mild brain damage from bleeding out during one of his surgeries (because he also ended up getting a literal bone eating bacterial infection that the doctors found but did nothing about until it ruined 6 of his vertebrae), and now just sits in a reclining chair high out of his mind on Vicodin, Oxycodone, and Fentanyl. Mom managed to barely keep our heads above water (although we came pretty close becoming homeless).
Could have been worse.
