see that's the thing. crypto assets are not valuable at all. You can't do anything with crypto assets except sell them which you can do with literally any asset. Retards, if one person holds 99% of Bitcoin the remaining Bitcoin can still be divided an infinite amount of times. The man holding the 99% of Bitcoin would just be richer because the currency is inherently deflationary but the currency itself isn't scarce, it's abundantly infinite. There's limited supply but unlike gold (which can't be realistically divided forever, you can't walk around with gold atoms), Bitcoin CAN be divided an infinite amount of times.

Its scarcity thus means nothing
It was just as scarce when 1 bitcoin was mined as it was when 2 bitcoins were mined, and when all bitcoins are mined. Deflation will just kick in once all bitcoins are mined

You are blindly repeating /pol/ talking points. Most of the people wanting socialism and communism are born in America, many of the shitskins escaped communism and hate it with passion. The education system is the problem, it teaches millions to hate their country. China has a higher PPP not GDP, they are decades from overtaking America. America won't fall soon.

This is very true, but is a little pedantic.

Market cap at the end of the day isn't technically a definitive value indicator. Of course it works perfectly as one.

But it's not like there is vault of "money" somewhere that is backing the Bitcoin price. Theoretically if everyone decided to stop trading Bitcoin and all the liquidity and order books on the exchanges disappeared, and then someone went on an exchange and put in a bid order of $1 for one Bitcoin, and it was sold at that price - the new market cap would be 21 million for Bitcoin. Gold and every conceivable asset can be viewed in this sense.

Bitcoin really gets you at thinking at what money is. Fiat is monopoly money. Stocks can be freely issued. Gold is inflationary. Real Estate isn't bad. But Bitcoin is the only asset class that is finite.

No no no, it's very rare that even simple adjustments are made to the code. The finite supply is the key element behind Bitcoin. Satoshi designed it specifically because of inflation and monetary shenanigans. Consensus is extremely difficult to obtain with Bitcoin regarding alterations, which we now understand as a feature not a bug. That's the beauty of this thing. Check out Michael Saylor, he's the billionaire rocket scientist genius that just put his entire company treasury in Bitcoin.

the bitcoin protocol only handles integer numbers and the unit of those numbers we call sats but the bitcoin protocol calls them "amount"
