Lets be intellectually honest here. 1million usd is a whole hell of a lot of money for someone who would reinvest or pay cash for a house. Imagine never having a mortgage, or making 40-60 thousand USD a year passive income. This kind of money absolutely would be lifechanging for anyone.

It's a good amount, but not if you never want to work again. You need enough money for a nice house is a nice, primarily white location by the ocean, and that alone is atleast a million dollars. Then you need another 1.5 million for expenses. Then maybe another million for "fun" funds. So around 3.5 million is where you need to be to have an absolutely care free life where you never have to worry about money, unless you're an extravagant spender.

You have to keep in mind that a majority of people who say things like this want to live in a big city like LA, New York, Boston, San Francisco, Dallas, Atlanta or any other majority cities. Having a million dollars isn't enough to live in this places. They always want a nice car and a 3500sqft home. If I get a million or even 2 million. I will never work a day in my life. I'll move to some small city with less than 10k people in middle America. I'll have a truck, a home that is less than 2500sqft, have family, and really study history. I'll do what I want, but in a way were I'm not spending more than 25k a year. Hell, I'll use a majority of that to reinvest into the stock market once it crashes too.

Because I want to change the world for the better and pursue my dreams, not sit in a basement playing BING BING WAHOO and fapping to traps in a cuck shed. I figure I need 1.5 mill (1 mill in VTI, 500k in a Roth IRA for retirement) and then 1 mill for my dream house on a large plot of land innawoods, then another 500k to buy a nice duplex to rent out out and then maybe another 500k-1 mill to really chase my dream of creating uplifting art to raise the planetary consciousness/ break free some NPC’s from the Jewish stranglehold of materialism/ consumerism. i don't know if i could retire early but i could definitely buy a decent house + a few acres for $150-175k in my hometown and pay off my $100k in jewdent loans. let's just say $300k in total.

once that's taken care of monthly costs (food, transportation/car, utilities, upkeep) might only be like $1000-1500/month, let's say $16k a year on average. i could stretch that remaining $700k out to about 40 years. so it might not be "never work again" money but it would definitely make my life a lot fucking easier.

If you have $1mil liquid cash you have a fuckton of OPTIONS is the thing. You can reinvest, you can buy property and either live on it or make income properties, you can relatively safely just straight up retire and withdraw a ~$50k a year from the market. You can start a business, and make MORE money. It's not going to fun to straight up fuck off and absolutely nothing the rest of your life anyway. The $1mil just allows you to do so many things.

This is THE answer.

They're sad that they can't just sit around and play vidya until they die, unironically

You and me realize that a million let's you do something different with your life, but you will likely be doing something (and that's not a bad thing)

A million+ gets rid of the urgency, the location dependence, the need to take bad deals, the need to have a high income, etc

You can realistically thrive as a small time personal trainer or nonprofit exec

2m$ invested in index funds yields you like 4-5% inflation adjusted over next decades (no, it won't be 15%, stop dreaming), which is only $80k that you have to reinvest anyway, so maybe you have like $30k take away money if you want to actually continue building wealth. How is $30k passive annual "making it"?

At 10M$ it starts to get interesting though. At that point you'd have 300k$ passive annual and that would be doable even in expensive first world cities.
