Because they don't tell you they're buying before they buy. Otherwise you can match your portfolio up with theirs. Also they can frontrun which we can't (they get access at the lowest price).

This is the opposite to Bitcoin btw where for the first time in human history retail is being allowed to frontrun the institutions.
