you could sell covered calls and get close to $100 a month in income. Going to be hard only having 1k and essentially wanting a 10% monthly return every month

Example:
>MRO 4.92 a share
>Buy 200 shares for $984
>Sell 2 MRO 5 C Dec 11, 2020 calls for 0.32
>$64 in premiums 28 day waiting period
>6.5% return on premiums for one month

If you really set on that $100 a month figure you could sell weeklies instead of monthlies to get more granular with it. Probably will need a stock with juicier premiums than MRO but this was just used as an example because premiums are decent and it's ~$5 a share

Not in these markets I think. Pretty much every asset is in a huge bubble that will pop when somebody as much as thinks about the word "deflation". The classic boomer advice would be government bonds and indexes however I wouldn't go for either of those. Bond yields are so low that they don't even keep up with inflation, meaning you'll lose money by investing lol. And index funds will just pop before you're ready to take some gains out. The times of easy money are gone. You absolutely have to work for your money.
