I was so close to selling all my eth for bitcoin yesterday. I'm already 70% btc and about ready to make it 100%. Ethereum is such a clusterfuck, this is at least the 3rd unintentional hard fork they've had since U started paying attention to them. The eth codebase is just a fucking mess and the developers are proving themselves to be completely incompetent. I have zero faith in eth 2 at this point and they are bound to fuck something up, move fast and break things is the worst possible philosophy for a network that secures 50 billion dollars with hopes of securing even more
The only reason I haven't sold is because i just know how stupid everyone is. Hopefully this piece of shit coin can survive another year so I can sell during the next cycle and then buy bitcoin in the bear market. Fuck altcoins

>> No.23883865

>>23882851
If you think adding more clients to this complicated mess is going to improve things you are dead wrong. You will simply increase the chances of consensus bugs, and then the community will look to the exchanges (who will control basically all the eth when we roll to 2.0 because nobody will want to stake for themselves due to slashing risk) and vitalik to decide which fork to follow

Because there was no hard fork you fucking imbecile. You and all the other normalfaggots noobs can’t spend a single minute just looking into what happened. No, you gotta scream the headlines from newspapers. Fuck you. Fuck your mother and your whole family in their assholes.
There was a chance of a bug where an older client would initiate a WRONG chain and, as per protocol, all other clients will switch over to the right chain like in a PoW attack, double spend attempt etc. We have reogrs 2-3 blocks deep on a DAILY basis. All that happened here is that the bug was triggered, older clients did the mistake as expected and everyone switched over automatically to the right chain. It wasn’t a hard fork, it was an automatic switch to the right chain. No parameters were changed, no consensus rule altered, no protocol configurations replaced. Literally a nothingburger that was caused by an old software doing a wrong decision that was automatically mitigated by newer software.
