>finally get a welding apprenticeship after 3 years
>pay is $15/hr
i am done with this clown world. i seriously could have been working at fucking amazon making that same amount of money. that's 3 years of my life financially wasted for the reward of another 3 years of entry level pay. fuck you.

>> No.23833117

Get your weld certifications and shop around for a job. Travel welders and pipe welders make a lot. Don't be afraid to move or travel for work.

>> No.23833127

Lol, what are ypu complaining about. A trained monkey can do welding.
A lot of people right out of uni get 15$/hour as well.

At least you won't be replaced by robots anytime soon.

You are fostering an actual skill that has true value though.
You could work independently where as amazon wagies can't, and are probably too low IQ to handle welding.
You are a chad. Good welders make good money.

I'm guessing the welding apprenticeship will lead onto you being qualified and then getting paid more? Where as amazon isn$15 for the rest of your life.
Only thing clown about this world is fucking zoomers like you with no skills who don't want to work their way up the ladder or try hard and just want everything now and complain when they don't get it.
Fucking embarrassing

>> No.23833197

Trades are a meme. Even after your apprenticeship is over, it's not like you'll suddenly jump to 6 figures. In the grand scheme of things you're looking at some 10 years of financial mediocrity. Better off just taking that mcdonalds job and saving every penny for 2 years, then dumping it into stocks. After that 10 years, you'll be set compared to just getting your feet on the ground like with your trade.

I would be better off without a degree because then I'd have a clean slate, this society is actual fucking cancer and credentialism is super gay.

>If I study 3 years it must have higher salary, since why would anyone ever study if that were not the case!

This is an example of a linear logic. You expected there to be a 'system'. No, there is no system. Things just happen in the world and you must observe them.

Supply and demand. For the past 5 years, businesses have been begging for welders. Seeing this, many natives thought it was an opportunity to learn a decent skill and get decent pay. However, the businesses all cried to the government that they need the welders now and the government lets in thousands of immigrant welders. Now, just as the natives are graduating from their welding courses, the market is now flooded with cheap 3rd-world welders and no demand for expensive native welders that have spent years and money to learn a now useless skill. Don't you just love globalization?

You basically nailed it.

I have a well designed postcard I like to hand out a few hundred every week or so.

Also boomers will walk up to you if you are mowing on a weekend or late in the afternoon and as you to mow their lawn. Google business reviews are probably the most important thing for a online presence.

Most 30-40 somethings just go on google and look up 'lawn mowing my city' and if your business has the most 5 star reviews you will get the lions share of the calls from people online.

Actually servicing the jobs isn't hard, building up a run of jobs from scratch requires real marketing effort.

I like my business because even though my customers are my little bosses the risk is way lower then being a wage slave.

Imagine I lose 1 customer due to a mistake or something, I still have 49 more and can easily hand out 200 post cards in a hour to land another job to replace that lost customer. But if you are a wage slave your boss is your only income, if you make one mistake he might lay you off or block you from promotion.

My goal with my business was to be able to make a good salary in as little time as possible, I can make $500 a day on 10 reasonably sized $50 lawns and do that for 3-4 six hour days a week to pay my rent, buy my food and put some aside for crypto investing. Also I live by the coast so after I am done with the work day I like to go to the beach and relax.

I have a good balance where I am doing all the work myself, not paying a middle man a dime and I have plenty of free time to trade shitcoins, watch anime, go to the gym e.c.t

If this chad autist can start a business anyone can.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5LLXAr8E9Z0&ab_channel=WondersoftheWorld

Get yourself a ute, design some pretty postcards, get some equipment, get some experience with using said equipment and get yourself some jobs.

I used to be really scared of talking to customers but you get over it. Just listen to gay anime music in your rig and go start your business.

I remember when I got out of highschool a few years ago and applyed for a job at mcdonalds and got rejected. I was depressed thinking 'I can't even get a job at mcdonalds, I must be worthless'.
However now I know I can always make 5x the pay a mcdonalds wage slave makes in a hour. It feels good.

my parents live in a neighborhood with mostly old people. i made bank doing whatever jobs those old loaded boomers dreamed up. One week i got paid $1000 to help some woman move her stuff out of her house so she could turn in into a rental. it doesn't surprise me at all that someone could make $50 an hour mowing lawns. my minimum was $15/hr with no taxes, for 100% unskilled labor.

Alot of these landscapers have high attrition rates. For example they will massively underquote for their work and after a few months they will burnout and quit.

For example one of my first customers said she had hired 2 previously landscapers and they both ended up bailing on her. If you charge high enough where it is worth your time and then actually show up and communicate with the customer you can succeed. Also many of those people you see driving around are probably not running their own business but rather just working for somebody else.

Also in the west with age demographics going the way they are lots of old boomers need their lawns done and even young family need it done since their kids are so lazy they can't even mow a lawn since they are to busy being zoomers.

majority of people on here that talk about making $100k/year in trades are LARPing or work in a union in a big city. if you want to see realistic salaries for trades go to the buruea of labor statistics, and realize that those are mid-career wages. majority of welders, plumbers, electricians, etc. make like $20-25/hour unless they work in a union near a big city or are in some other exceptional field of work e.g. pipefitter at a petrochemical plant in the south, welder on pipeline construction, etc.
