> RSV is trading at $1.02
> buy $10000 of RSR and redeem for 10000 RSV
> market sell RSV for $10200
> profit

But nobody has ever explained why RSV would trade above the peg

USDT only fluctuates by 0.001%

there won’t be an opportunity for arbitrage

>> No.23829165

>>23829052
tether isnt tied to a basket of other fluctuating assets to help stabilize the price like RSV. as the other basket assets move, RSV could move w/ it. redeeming RSR for RSV burns the RSR and reduces total supply. all of this will occur in the reserve app w/ no need to manually arbitrage

But if RSV is redeemable for just $1 then why would it ever go above $1?

>> No.23829320

Arbitrage is just bait to get you to lock up your tokens while early investors dump on you. How is this any different than any staking token that drops off a cliff in price while your coins are all locked up?

>> No.23829343

>>23829319
If tether treasure doubled the amount of USD they have, USDT wouldn’t go to $2 because it’s still only redeemable for $1

RSV is not going to be 1.25, it will be 1.01 or .99, just like all stable coins. these small fluctuations will lead to a steady income stream when youre app is automatically arbitraging those price dips for you. tl;dr -- supply and demand for RSV will cause small price moves that can be profitable over time

what keeps tether at $1? they keep printing more of it and they have never actually proven they have the cash to back the supply.

I don’t see a use case for a decentralized stable coin, sorry but it just seems sketchy

I’ll use libra instead, it’s actually backed by big banks

You can actually redeem tether for usd

It will on other markets according to the principles of supply and demand. If a lot of RSV is bought on a market, it is axiomatic that the price increases in that market. The protocol then represents a "market" of its own, the price of which is backed in value by the protocol's maintenance of a number of stablecoins (temporarily fiat backed, later to go to crypto stables) which it receives and distributes in exchange for RSV at a rate of one USD per RSV. As the price of RSV moves away from the price offered by the protocol, traders increasingly find it profitable to interact with the protocol to make a profit from that difference (arbitrage). The supply of the backing relative to the RSV in existence is also managed by the protocol in an automated fashion, because the protocol mints and burns token and must therefore keep the ratio of the backing in stable proportion. It's basically robo-fed lite.

Hmm actually I realize I’m a brainlet now

I was gonna say the price of the USD doesn’t chance because of demand but it actually does, compared to other currencies. Thanks anon.

Still don’t see why normies will care if it’s decentralized though. They will just use Libra instead.

Fully decentralizing is a future proofing against threats to civilization and centralization in general.
The protocol is targeted to economically mismanaged countries as it stands, that's the primary source of adoption. Poors in Brazil swapping in because they can't trust anyone.
