As a Bong I'm surrounded by people who despise him but from my basic knowledge of his term, it seems he generally did a fair amount of good

I liked his lack of new foreign conflict and the peace agreements being reached in the middle east, which 50 years of neocon interventionism couldn't fix

The US economy seemed pretty robust, poverty, unemployment, labour force participation, wage growth, stock market growth, all looked very positive

He actually got major criminal justice reform done, what the liberals have been reeeing about for years

He killed the Patriot Act

Reduced illegal immigration

Put the brakes on China somewhat

Kept the US leading CO2 reduction despite leaving the superficial Paris agreement

His pandemic response was no worse than any of the countries of Europe seeing similar spikes and death numbers

What did he do that was actually so terrible? And what is Joe Biden going to improve on exactly?

1. Greatest transfer of wealth from future generations to the top .01%. Look at how much debt he created because he wanted lower taxes on billionaires.

2. Made populism cool. How many people can define gross domestic product, yet he listens to those people and let’s them decide complex policies like tarrifs.

3. Before to become a judge you had to have the respect of your peers. He changed that so that political sycophants could get elected. I think Trump had a good heart but this change will allow the worst politicians significant power going forward.

People who saw through the media brainwashing know he was a good president. People will realise in time he was the only thing standing in the way of the complete decay of the economy and the western way of life. Even most liberals except the most frothing at the mouth never trumpers will realize it has a huge mistake voting him out for the future of the western world. Yes he was crass but he was a necessary antidote to balance out the increasingly neo Marxist lunacy spreading through the west from a cultral perspective and to combat the globalist establishment.

He also alienated libertarians, which actually cost him the election.

He also came off as too whiney and defensive, which was the opposite of how confidently and aggressive he ran his campaign. He didn't do a good job explaining why the Coronahoax was being used as a political tool. Pretending it didn't exist was the wrong answer though.

Internet isn't water, they were trying to regulate it like water. Anon, let me reiterate, how bad has internet been in the past 2 years since then? For me it's gotten faster, and cheaper, and I'm in the irrelevant midwest. Stop carrying water for FANG, as I said, they simply didn't want to have to hire the legal teams to deal with ISPs directly and were happy to have the government slap a massive regulation on them, ulterior consequences be damned.

The US has had big speed gains according to speedtest since 2017.

You missed the point entirely and it's funny this is the second time I've heard this line of thinking where you are the ones claiming others were misled somehow. Coping mechanisms in high gear. The point of this wasn't speed. The point was being able to control the internet. Neutrality is inherently good for internet, the issue is the principle behind it, and the slippery slope implications. Think about it from a first principles standpoint and then design the internet from there. You can rationalize it, but you can't justify it.

>> No.23797245

The rich never pay taxes. Reduce taxes for the rich below what they pay offshore and suddenly they're paying taxes, however. It's an equilibrium, but the higher the taxes you impose on them, the less they end up actually paying because the more it's worth passing their taxes through some offshore (even possibly illegal in extreme cases) venture.
Meanwhile, the middle class can never escape taxation. While rich people who make 1m+ per year can pay less in taxes on donations alone, if you make less than 1m this isn't an option for you (at 500k donation and tax write-off rate are about equal, at 1m+ donation can knock off 25%+ off your taxes in excess of the donation amount you 'lose').
It's also going to be more expensive for you to pass your taxes offshore if you're middle class, and most options are not possible (there are floors for investment amounts, similar to how the good (arguable!) hedge funds are 3.5m+ starting).
So in the end, what happens to the taxes of the rich is meaningless overall. On the other hand, the middle class taxes are the most meaningful as it directly influences the wellbeing of the productive class. Under obongo, both the poor and the middle class got crushed by taxes. Under trump, the poor got a massive relief from no obongocare, and the middleclass got a meaningful relief through reduced taxation.

Yes, there's a lot of rhetoric against him backed with little substance, but that's little different to many of the things that Trump says himself. His worst enemy is obviously himself. If the guy showed even the slightest amount of humility before the election, he would have won by a landslide. People love character development, but Trump really is the caricature.

>I liked his lack of new foreign conflict and the peace agreements being reached in the middle east, which 50 years of neocon interventionism couldn't fix
This is ultimately happening with or without him. We are no longer dependent on foreign oil. But yes credit where credit is due. But remember, this is at the expense of other peoples - who will suffer greatly under the shifting dynamics without US protections. Double edged sword.

>The US economy seemed pretty robust, poverty, unemployment, labour force participation, wage growth, stock market growth, all looked very positive

If you look at the charts, this too was getting better with or without him. The president only has so much power, the economy is largely influenced by all of the other factors. Due to the JTCA the biggest winners were large corporations and big stock buybacks. This led to a bloated economy, which is good for 401k's which makes the boomers happy. However it is not sustainable as valuations and numbers no longer matter. Before Covid, the stock market was arguably very bloated and due for a correction anyways.

>Put the brakes on China somewhat
Again, his foreign policy is good for Americans. The Chinese however will see a massive population correction in the North.

Biden won't be much different contrary to what people believe because no fundamental changes will happen. The wealthy will pay a bit more in taxes, but the ultra-rich won't pay any taxes. Social equalities happen over time regardless of presidents. Foreign engagement will continue to decline.

I think that's a major factor.
But keep in mind there were lunatics who were totally into this nonsense. How people could be entertained by 4 years of the same thing over and over and over and over and over and over again is beyond me.
It's so tiresome. The death of traditional media can't happen quickly enough for me.

No. Major media and the leftist social media platforms brainwashed our country. He wasn't a shining example of the positives of humanity, but who of us are? Unfortunately the average american now has the attention span of a fifth grader on crack and were heavily influenced by repetition of factless recirculated Facebook posts, twitter posts, and other viral media propoganda and most here champion beliefs that are not their own, nor are the result of critical thought and research. Why major media followed that trend without upholding some kind of ethos is a shameful mystery. We had one major media outlet (fox) that was pro trump, and could never just stick to the facts. Meanwhile we had several that were not pro anyone, just anti trump (cnn, cnbc, etc. Etc. ) And could also not stick to just the facts. Media poisoned this well, driving a division of the people and polarizing them to levels where they were so busy being pissed at each other that they'd rather beat each other down in the street than have an educated political conversation and form their own values. Evident by the overwhelming amount of anti-trumpers you've seen on here that don't champion biden as the reason for their bid, just that trump was the devil and had to go... But have little to no reasons to give when pressed.
