What are peoples' thoughts on simply uploading their ID and credit card info, including pictures of the damn things, to these exchanges in order to buy coin from fiat?

Like most of you I've done this with a couple of sites but as I've struggled to find a site that can handle the orders at present I've joined a couple more and given them my details as above. Now I'm feeling more and more uneasy about it.

So far I've given my deets to coinbase, coinfloor and gemini, none of which are currently allowing me to buy coin with fiat. How many fucking more? How to keep track?

Risks?
Feelings?
What's the security like on different exchanges? Is there any reason to feel secure about it?
Are there any that are more trustworthy than others?
Any you feel uneasy about?

I don't think anything in this game gives me more FUD than the thought of these exchanges having my info.

But what other choice is there for a nocoin faggot?

I've always wondered why they ask for ID and shit. Not even Amazon asks for ID.

Personally, I hate it because it makes buying BTC the biggest pain in the ass.

Its a good thing

It scares off normies like you so we can take control of the entire market. When it becomes easier to sign up, normies will flood in and make us millionaires. That was always the plan

I wouldn't do it anywhere outside of coinbase and gemini

In the glorious mother EU, if you close your account they're FORCED to delete your shit after a while. And if they don't and something happens you sue their asses and earn enough dosh to buy a gold Lambo.
Don't know how it works in the US.

This. It's like when you sign up for a bank account. Doesn't matter if it's Chase, Wells Fargo, or the credit union that exists only in your shitty town. You're going to need to give them your ID and SSN to open an account, get a loan, open a safety deposit box, etc.

Something to do with providing a financial service?

If you were a government trying to get a handle on a financial ecosystem that's thus far totally out of your control then setting up exchanges to harvest IDs from people would be a pretty good way of matching assets to individuals.
Which I don't care too much about, I have zero interest in the black economy side of this, Drugs or guns or counterfeit passports etc. so I couldn't give a fuck if the government wants to know I'm buying crypto, or what I'm buying with it. If I'm making gains I'll happily pay my taxes.

Lets say coinbase gets hacked by some chinakike. Now they have a photographic copy of my driver's license/passport/whatever. They couldn't get that shit from even Paypal or Amazon if they wanted to. Is CB or Gem more secure than them?

>>2347785
>They are simply trying to comply with anti money laundering laws
Sure I get that.
Would you trust CEX?
CEX is asking me for a photo of my ID and Credit card-side-by-side.
Just bizarre; I've uploaded photo ID for passport applications or a car rental before but a photo of my credit card??
That's a bit much, feels shady as fuck, don't wanna do it but I want more BTC/Eth.

>>2347842
Didn't have to do that with Paypal, was well over a decade tho. Especially sending a photo of my fucking credit card.

If you're such a total pussy, find a service that allows you to buy/sell with vouchers or some shit. Maybe try USDT? (don't know much about it). Or localbitcoins if you feel like being scammed directly or arrested by the FBI.

>> No.2348285

this whole scan your ID bullshit is just idiotic.

there is a reason that this is simply illegal in Germany. Ironically, no one cares.

But fuck that. I dont even mind paying taxes, but scanning my ID and sending it to some random US site with 0 privacy? Fuck no!

I'll just hold, until I can finally buy shit with my crypto, but the current situation is just bullshit.

no. Copying your ID is.

And I buy my crypto in Austria, with cash via bitcoinbon.at.

I just treat it as a bet on the future, assuming I can use it at some point in the future for something besides drugs, which I have no use for.

Yeah, OK, I'm going to trust kraken, that they won't fuck me over. So far, they haven't run away with my "money", so I'm going to assume they also won'T do shit with my ID. BUT:
a) I'm still breaking the law when uploading it (though a minor offense, but still. If I'm doing illegal shit, I might as well do it properly, and evade taxes)
b) when they get hacked, not only will my "money" be gone, but my complete ID is now on the market, do be used for whatever you need an ID for. Best case: Some random kid registers on an ukrainian porn site in my name.
Worst case: Someone cashed out a few k BTC in my name, and now the taxman is coming for me.
