I'm 22 but I've accumulated 220k through my job and stocks. I tell my mom I only make 18k a year because she'd want some of my money if she knew and she wouldn't know how to use it in the first place. So comfy it hurts.

I started ups at 18 and at 21 they let me drive since I had 3 years seniority. Older drivers waited longer. These days it can take up to 2 years. UPS is also hiring drivers at 21 after only a year seniority because of Covid retirements.

what he's not telling you is that his parents are wealthy and one/both are high up in the UPS union structure, IE; he had a golden ticket from the moment he was born.

Not even 9 posts into the thread and there are people already seething at you talking as if you not taking the ((((independent)))) pill is a sign of our decaying western civilization, not realizing that going away from your family is among the main reason why everyone feels so apart from each other.

For some people, your adult life starts when you voluntarily throw yourself into debt living frugally instead of prioritizing wealth accumulation strategies by staying at home with your parents. The only real downside for doing so is if you want to be socially active, i.e use your home as a gathering place for friends or even a gf. But should you concern yourself with such trivialities when your priority should be to secure yourself and your family financially? Are the people in your social circle really vapid enough to the point of not accepting your choice of not leaving the "nest" unprepared? When I was a college student 8 years ago, I had a gf who lived with her parents and she was the one who made me realize the folly of leaving home as soon as high-school ended. Despite the minor inconveniences such as not having a personal space, she didn't need tire herself in a part time job, had more time to study and most of all SAVED MONEY she didn't need to waste into rent.

This was a real eye opener for me back then
