>I work for a huge MNC and they've been doing exactly that, anything menial or that can be taught to be outsourced will be.

and as a counterpoint i worked at a big 4 public accounting firm (250k employees.) we would outsource simple shit like revenue testing to pajeets in india because we paid them comparatively lower wages and we could market it as 'cost savings' to the client by means of a lower hourly bill rate. these pajeets were all educated, holding the equivalent of an accounting degree in their country.

every project we sent them required detailed written instructions, task-specific templates as deliverables, and clear deadlines. this was a pain in the ass and took time away from us. in general, these assignments required massive amounts of hand-holding and follow ups whereas a first year US auditor could do the work with minimal handholding at a much faster pace.

every time i used the pajeets, at the insistence of engagement managers/senior managers/partners, it was a total fucking waste of time. the pajeets would struggle to understand even basic accounting concepts. any semblance of judgement they exercised would be wrong. they were terrible at documentation, their questions and testing exceptions made no sense, and they were often late in completing the owrk. it was literally faster to do it ourselves.

Yeah all of what you've said is true but you have to remember they're like a tenth of the cost and they're not exactly going to get worse, they just need extreme training so management will just have people teaching them how to do their job.

I work in pensions and there's still loads of basic shit they're struggling with but management keeps ploughing through because they're cheaper and do actually work harder (just that work has often been shite). Most people's office jobs won't be safe, they'll run a skeleton crew and outsource all they can.

Any kind of dev or system design experience is great. I entered the field from a dev postion (several years experience). The key is to use that hands-on experience to sell yourself. You'd be suprised at the number of people in cybersecurity who don't know shit about tech. Those are often the people in positions higher up the corporate ladder. Use your tech experiense to help them make their jobs easier.

Go look for positions at large organisations with money to burn: banks, insurance firms. They always need people, since most talented people don't tend stick around. Getting a contractor to do this for you, while making them pay for your education, is also a good approach (especially for juniors).

Look for 'security consultant', 'security analyst' or 'security officer' positions. Or technical positions if you want, but that requires a large learning investment. Stay away from SOC.

What field is your bachelors fren?
