I just had this thought today. If we returned to actually asking for Gold for goods instead of currency would people actually feel insulted by the amount of gold offered for their products? Like literal gold dust for something potentially worth thousands of American ValueBucks™ at that point would people wake up?

No people would just be like "huh? sorry but we only accept cash or credit here"

This isn’t through a merchant/business exchange dummy, I’m talking direct transactions like through EBay or items bought on Craigslist in person

Nope, people would just use gold back notes, or even gold woven into bank notes which already exist.

Yes, people are always impressed the first time they realize the value density of gold. But, they will nevertheless insist they are paid in good goy points.

Best case scenario they'd think you're some kind of nutjob and politely refuse.
Worst case scenario they'd think you're trying to scam them. And honestly can you blame them? I wouldn't want some random internet faggot sending me his "gold" for products only to find out later it was fake.

The only thing that seems realistic is backing up the current money value on gold. Imagine the chaos it would make on the start, just lovely.
