What's the actual total money in the world? I heard it's 73 trillion, but then I keep hearing about NASA, the US army, Russia spending trillions ANNUALLY, so I'm wondering how does the economy work, do they just recycle the money and bounce it off of each other?
Sorry in advance for being an uncultured newbie.

There are as much money as they can print to meet demand.
The truth is that overall Value is diversified through money, stocks, goods and other derivatives.
The value of money changes based on that ratio. There are quadrillions of money in derivatives, but once you start selling them for USD, their value would decrease drastically, meaning you can't really sell them for quadrillion dollars, you have to lower the price to meet demand.
Value is just circulating around everything, going from money to goods, from goods back to money, from money to derivatives and stocks, then back.

money flows into assets, the total value of which worldwide is measurable in the quadrillions. liquid cash is maybe the number you gave but it’s really hard to know the actual exact total liquidity because it’s cloaked by all sorts of mechanisms, including how one defines “money”. If we’re talking just cold hard physical cash then it’s maybe around 30 trillion ish. But it goes up to at least a hundred trillion if you include relatively liquid assets like stocks etc

many people spend tens of thousands or hundreds of thousands annually, while theyir balance holds just few thousands or are even in the negative at a time. How can this be?

This. The answer is complicated, there isn't a set amount of money that exists in any nation.

It all really boils down to the "opinion" of the global elite in banking, politics, and finance to decide the money supply and interest rates

Quadrilion? Nope, it's barely 500 trillion.

let me put things in perspective for you.

It doesnt matter how much money exists -- what matters is how much WEALTH exists. Money is a ticket that entitles you to wealth, but you can print money, but you cant print wealth.

So it doesnt matter how much money there is, or whether they just recycle it back and forth.

money isn’t real, that’s all you need to know
